Role/ Department:
The Derivatives Outsourcing department provides middle and back office operational support to investment management clients, across a wide range of Exchange Traded and Over the Counter products. The team's responsibilities include trade capture, trade affirmation / confirmation, trade settlement, margin calculation, margin settlement and all associated reconciliations.
The Repo Collateral Management Team's primary role is the issuance, agreement and booking of Repo collateral margin calls to ensure all clients' open Repo trade positions are fully collateralised and ensuring all collateral movements are fully settled in the market as per the settlement terms of their legal agreements.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Repo Trade feed checks and price validation
  • Margin Call issuance and agreement in line with GMRA terms
  • Booking agreed collateral movements to Collateral Management platform Colline
  • Settlements Tracking to ensure market instructions settle in accordance with GMRA terms
  • Margin Call Dispute Management
  • Bond Substitution Process
  • Investigating and resolving exceptions from TLM custody v IOO reconciliations with Counterparties and internal stakeholders
  • Client , MIS and KPI Reporting
  • Query Management with internal and external clients
  • To provide support to the Team Leader and Department Manager
  • To instruct collateral bookings in a timely & accurate manner
  • To liaise with Clients and Market Counterparties to resolve any collateral disputes and/or settlement discrepancies
  • To undertake relevant position reconciliations
  • To proactively address all queries in a time efficient manner.
  • To undertake various tactical and strategic initiatives to improve performance
  • To ensure that all team duties are completed accurately within internal, market and SLA deadlines and timeframes
  • Attend internal meetings where required
  • Ensure that procedures are followed and updated regularly
  • Ensure that controls are adhered to and evidenced daily
Skills/ Qualifications:
• Ability to process accurately whilst consistently meeting external and internal deadlines
• Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
• Ability to represent Northern Trust to the highest professional levels both internal and externally (including clients, and regulators)
• Client service orientation
• Excellent attention to detail essential, candidate must have the ability to process information accurately whilst consistently meeting external and internal deadlines
• Organises own workload and establishes priorities
• Demonstrates willingness to help others outside team
• Good prioritisation and multi-tasking skills
• Strong problem solving skills

• Demonstrates good knowledge of standards and procedures required for own tasks
• Excellent PC skills especially MS Excel

• Ability to represent Northern Trust to the highest professional levels both internal and externally (including clients, and regulators)
• Derivatives Operations experience an advantage but not essential.
