General Ledger Team Lead
Operations KPI
  • Lead and supervise the team, manage day-to-day operation and month end close to ensure deadlines and deliverables are submitted accurately and on time, advising team on journal validation/ substantiation and supporting to ensure proper audit trails
  • Journal booking and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, as required or needed
  • Act as escalation point for any issues involving month end, quarter, year-end close. Monitor and manage issues, escalations and/or exceptional handling requests
  • Monitor and review to ensure key risks are identified and action plans are actioned on a timely basis, with issues escalated appropriately on a timely basis
  • Ensure team operates in line with global processes and incorporates best practice financial controls
  • Involve in any new standard/ disclosures requirements (eg IFRS15, IFRS16) and dealing with Group Finance.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Experian policies and be the first line of defense/ Gatekeeper of the books
Stakeholder management
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, managing expectation and driving continuous improvement within the team to ensure quality delivery and output
  • Ensure stakeholders queries are attended to and resolved in a timely, responsible and proactive manner
  • Develop and recommend areas for enhancements and improvements for the current systems and processes to meet the challenges and needs of stakeholders
People management
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to team members
  • Manage team performance & KPIs on a daily basis with a solid back-up plan
  • Lead as a role model to instil a robust culture of knowledge sharing and working together, implementing clear metrics to measure success of the team
  • Plan, organize and supervise the team operation to ensure the business as usual. Support line manager in resource planning, recruitment and training, employee engagement and development, performance reviews and appraisals, and succession planning
  • Set performance objective with direct report and review it with line manager
  • Continuous motivating team into improving operating rhythm for Empower+
  • Train and/or upskilling team members to enable cross-team resource rotation
  • Lead and motivate the team to perform problem solving session using A3, Fishbone and 5 Whys to troubleshoot issues and identify potential risks (if any) and follow it through till resolution
Adhoc / Projects
  • Lead and review process improvement projects - i.e Kaizen, Lean, Yellow belt/Green belt/Black belt to develop, design, and implementation of new processes, controls, and functionality changes to existing systems to improve current processes, controls and overall effectiveness of the team
  • Provide support to internal & external Audit process and in accordance to accounting standard. Ensure compliance with all requirements encompassing data integrity and evidence of process and accuracy.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by line manager in order to meet financial reporting requirements and/or other projects
  • Respond/ handle ad-hoc requests/ divestments/ acquisitions in a timely and professional manner

  • Candidate must possess either Bachelor's Degree, Professional Degree, Finance/Accountancy and/or Professional Certificate in ACCA/CIMA/CPA
  • Minimum 6-8 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • At least 3+ years of supervisory or management experience with proven track record of change management and developing direct reports
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals, IFRS and ability to identify risk areas in reviews required and action upon, else escalate to manager
  • Preferably specializing in Finance - Oracle Financials, HFM or equivalent.
  • A strong and passionate mentor with patience and good coaching skills, with the ability to positively influence and drive the team to elevate to the next level
  • Good communicator, confident in interacting with all levels of individuals across a variety of internal functions (remote or on site) with excellent interpersonal skill to build relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively manage time and resources against agreed deadlines, with ability to work independently
  • Proactive, flexible and "can do" attitude to ensure that task is achieved
  • Resourceful, possess strong accounting & analytical skills, problem solving, attention to detail and is highly logical and numerate
  • Ability to work in a complex, fast paced environment and respond under ambiguous situations
  • Resilient and durable, able to maintain momentum in the face of obstacles and setbacks
  • Ability to present ideas and opinions in a collaborative, credible and influential manner
