Job Purpose

The Release Engineer will be a key member of Trade IT Development team and responsible for producing deployment, run books and implementation plans, Release reporting and Release schedule communication. The role holder will form a key part of a fast-paced, ambitious, delivery programme.

The Role Responsibilities

Software Release Management
  • Forward Plan the release windows and cycles across a portfolio
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Communicate all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Produce Deployment, Run Books and Implementation Plans
  • Weekly Release Reporting
  • Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required
  • Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities
  • Work with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
  • Develops scripts and automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Participate in Change Advisory B oard meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Research new software development and management methodologies and technologies and analyze their application to current configuration management needs
  • Ensure adherence to Systems Development Framework and control processes
  • Ensure delivery of all software artefacts

Our Ideal Candidate

Educational Qualification/Certification :
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent degree
Mandatory Skills:
  • Advance knowledge for Software development Lifecycles in Java/J2EE platform
  • Experience in DevOps & Continuous integration tools like Git Jenkins, Ansible etc
  • Hands Own experience in scripts & automation tools used to build, integrate & deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Advance knowledge of SCM tools. Subversion other release automation tools a plus
  • Develop new tools to improve our release and test pipeline
  • Design, develop and maintain release pipelines
  • Familiar with Docker & Kubernetes
  • Experience with Linux
  • Skill to coordinate resources and teams from different countries
  • Handling of parallel & large projects
  • Experience in managing releases for Agile Delivery Teams
  • Good Communication & Written skills
  • Good Stakeholder Management Skills
Optional Skills:
  • Formal training in project management practices preferred
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into solution design
Prior Experience:
  • Relevant experience of 5-7 years
  • Banking/FinTech experience preferred
