Canada Life are currently recruiting for an Investment Operations Manager to join our Isle of Man office on a 12 month fixed term contract.

We now need an Investment Operations Manager to support the transformation and the future growth of the business within the Finance function, so it can be a trusted and commercial partner that influences the business to make good financial decisions, by delivering excellent support, expertise and high quality Management Information.

 

Job Summary


Responsible for providing effective, efficient and scalable investment operations services to the Isle of Man insurance and investment businesses as well as other group companies and third party clients.

Overseeing Trade Order Matching and Settlements (TOMS), facilitating dealing in collectives, discretionary and related fund management (DFM) Account Management, corporate actions and data management, which also includes review, set up and governance of assets within the UK Personal Portfolio Bond rules.

 

What you’ll do

Lead, manage and develop the Dealing, Settlement and Governance teams ensuring high quality, professional services are provided to all external and internal clients. Oversee services to agreed standards (SLAs) and provide direction and guidance to motivated, team members which enables the department to grow in ability and technical depth that creates a culture of continuous improvement ensuring the control environment remains fit for purpose.

This includes:
•Responsible for timely and accurate trading and settlement
•Ensuring assets are appropriately reviewed and set up in alignment with all internal controls, procedures and regulatory requirements
•Managing investment operations requirements and development work necessary for all investment activities, complex transactions, projects and other regulatory changes as required.
•Communicating to finance management team making recommendations where needed on operational activities, priorities and resource allocation plans.
•Manage relationships ensuring SLA’s in place for any BAU services.

 

Lead the delivery of professional Investment Operations services in a controlled and timely manner and oversee services to agreed standards (SLAs).

Keep up to date with investment regulations, technological advances and industry best practice and pro-actively support and implement appropriate initiatives. Project manage Investment Operations projects – Target Operating Model Improvements, Simplified Platform and continuous process improvement deliverables:
•Agree deliverables and deadlines
•Agree and communicate priorities
•Manage resources to deliver work within agreed timeframes
•Provide regular reporting on status of work and any completed requests

Ensure change is managed effectively in the area including strategic, regulatory and operational change through appropriate change control processes. 


Devise appropriate Operational performance indicators (KPI’s & KRI’s) and Balanced Scorecard data and use such MI to drive results in terms of improved performance. This should include a process to incorporate feedback from clients (internal and external) and stakeholders on service delivery and lessons learned.
 
Provide technical expertise and oversee the management, training and development of teams and procedure notes keeping both up to date with regulatory, industry and internal requirements as appropriate.
 
Support effective risk management, creating a strong risk culture and operating in line with Canada Life’s risk strategy, preferences, policies and processes to improve the certainty around achieving our business and customer objectives.
 
Manage the input into ICOFR, RCSA and Policy attestation for Finance Systems and Improvements teams in addition to internal and external audit requirements.
 
Ensure external operational relationships are appropriately managed and maintained and build collaborative working relationships with other internal areas in order to develop and maintain service levels as required and work with clients to support their business change requirements and manage expectations.

 

 Who you are


•Extensive experience of Management of Investment Operations, teams and projects
•Thorough accounting/back office investment operations and unit-linked insurance knowledge
•Extensive knowledge of  finance & investment systems and processes
•Sound knowledge of investment and financial control processes.
•Strong understanding of the Life and Pensions industry and the related UK PPB investment regulations
•Extensive experience in leading investment operations in insurance or financial services companies
•Recognised investment qualification – e.g. CISI or equivalent
