Drive the highest levels of analytics, modeling and risk-management across a complex and global business structure
AkzoNobel creates everyday essentials to make people’s lives more liveable and inspiring. As a leading global paints and coatings company, we supply essential ingredients, essential protection and essential color to industries and consumers worldwide.
Our central Treasury function is responsible for Treasury, Pensions and Insurance for our different global businesses. Within this context, your mission in this role is to understand and interpret this complexity via data analytics, and to develop risk management strategies that enable us to maintain access to capital markets and promote outstanding bank relationship management. As such, this is a multi-layered and multi-facing role that demands the application of technical Treasury knowledge to a diverse and dynamic business environment within a large multinational organization. It is also a role that offers scope for significant career progression.
Is this a challenge that matches your profile as a collaborative team player with a passion for analytics and a deep understanding of international financial risk management (currency, interest rate, credit) products and their markets? Could you reach out to managers and controllers in order to explain those risks and how to deal with them? Do you have the service oriented mindset necessary to support colleagues and engage a team of professionals? Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment?
If you offer all this and more we invite you to apply for the position of
Senior Treasury Analyst
The role and its responsibilities
This influential and high profile position is based at our large hub in Arnhem, the Netherlands, from where you assume responsibility for central financial and Corporate risk management while acting as a center of expertise on Treasury market related topics. In doing so you engage with a wide range of external stakeholders including some 20 core banks as well as credit rating agencies.
Thus, you develop and maintain analytical, decision-support platforms and risk management approaches for the Group. In order to achieve this you deploy expert financial risk tooling as well as generic data inputs and analysis tools to develop and maintain models. You then prepare analysis and develop actions to improve group cash, liquidity, funding efficiency, and financial risk management.
Further, you trade existing FX and interest rate positions as aggregated through the Treasury Management systems. This requires you to maintain a real time overview of different currencies and financial processes, and to develop strategies in response to the associated risks.
Via the effective performance of these activities you maintain good access to capital markets, support the liquidity forecasting and monitoring process and execute short term funding and investment decisions. You also ensure all capital market activities are executed in compliance with AkzoNobel policies and risk framework.
In order to promote excellent bank relationship management you participate in the periodic review of relationship bank performance. You also act as a center of expertise on market related Treasury aspects, supporting the Director Financial Markets, Treasury Team and Businesses with timely and effective market advice. This requires you to stay abreast of Treasury market developments (instruments, counterparties, pricing, and trends) by consolidating market intelligence and participating in external networks and events.
To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:
- A relevant university qualification stressing numeracy and analytical abilities, with professional qualifications in Finance or Treasury Management an advantage;
- At least 5 years of experience, ideally in the field of financial risk management;
- Strong experience of working with Finance and Treasury Management systems (eg. SAP, HFM or other Treasury workstations);
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g. Spotfire, Qlikview, Tableau) is an advantage;
- Experience dealing FX and MM instruments is an advantage;
- Able to acquire a rapid understanding of AkzoNobel’s role and activities, along with a natural ability to work in a disciplined and structured manner;
- Effective and sensitive communication, interpersonal and presentational skills including fluent written and spoken English.
