Traded Risk function monitors, evaluates and manages market and counterparty risks impacting across the HSBC Group. It is responsible for establishing the global risk management framework for Traded Risk, and plays a key role in ensuring that the Bank is compliant with current and future regulatory requirements relating to Traded Risks and their capitalization. The primary responsibilities oare the provision of subject matter expertise, strategic and tactical guidance to Head of Traded Risk Process, identification of internal and external trigger events and being aware of current and emerging risks.


• Oversight and monitoring of risks and controls relating to Traded Risk Control activities
• Manage internal and external audit – engage with internal and external auditors to ensure adequate disclosure of TRM function per the audit requirements (including the annual TRM audit, business audit and site audits)
• MSII Management - manage the maintenance of the list of MSII for the Traded Risk Management team and in Audit Database
• Control Management - assist Control Owner to define control and operate effective controls
• Operational Risk Management - act as ambassadors for the Three Lines of Defense model, working collaboratively with the ORTP work stream and other core role holders to support the embedding of the model within the Bank.
• Policy & Governance – manage the Traded Risk Policy & Governance and ensure consistency of policy and governance across regions and entities for Traded Risk including management of the Traded Risk Target Operating Model
• SOX Controls – identify the accounting risk within a process through SOX testing, and control to mitigate the risk
• Business Continuity Management – organize reviews of BIAs (Business Impact Analysis & Business Continuity Plan


• University graduate with numerate degree and/or professional qualification
• Good understanding of the financial markets
• Good analytical skills
• Ability to undertake in depth review of industry, competitors, client and products and provide a high quality analysis
• Knowledge of the spectrum of Global Banking & Markets products and services
• Client focused, with relationship building, analytical and project management skills
• Strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills
• Sound judgment and problem solving skills, ability to think laterally
• Keen sense of urgency - able to achieve results quickly
• Able to manage numerous tasks with continual re positioning and prioritization
