COO - Regional Due Diligence Lead - VP
Position Overview

Role Summary:

This role is under client life cycle management team that is reposnsible for Know your client (KYC) requirements as per Global Policy and local requirements.The role has regional coverage and requires a strong KYC and leadership skills to drive quality agenda in APAC branches.

Oversee and maintain branch quality- Individual is accountable for all locations in APAC (Including Offshore locations supporting APAC) on quality scores

Wider coverage across New client adoptions, Periodic review and Event driven review.

Strong KYC skills- Due to nature of complexity on Corporate and Investment banking clients along with ocal nuiances; there is requirement that the candidate learns and understand KYC policy and risk associated with the same.

Handling senior stakeholders- Role will require the individual to interact with CLM Branch heads in all APAC locations, Work with Quality assurance (QA) organization to identify gaps and errors, Analyze the root cause and accordingly work with Policy, AFC-Compliance, Stanadards and training teams.

Create pool of SME- Individual is responsible to create a pool of Subject matter experts in each branch, maintain/retain the knowledge and facilitate the certification of Subject matter experts and Checkers

Own the certification process of high quality analyst to checkers and re certification of individual with lower quality output

Branch Scorecard- Manage and enhance branch quality and capability scorecard and provide visibility at regional & country level

Provide KYC and risk view and help in clearing items that need Quality caliberation with AFC-Compliance and auditors.

Responsible for internal quality assurance- SME checkers who perform sample based testing and use the results to provide branch quality score and live feedback

Clear view on all KYC analyst (Makers & Checkers) and help to analyse branch capability on quality and efficiency

Recommend sytem changes & requirements- Provide solutions and recommendation on KYC system/ product owners on how the process can be efficient and less prone to errors.

Own country local addendum change governance, approvals and simplification

Proactive to implement changes based on findings recived from QA, Compliance & Audit and Policy

Requirements & Ability
  • Deep understanding of the KYC process and local regulatory requirements
  • On the job experience and ACAMS certified preference
  • Individual with last 8-10 year experience in KYC with 15+ years of overall experience
  • Individuals who are currently in financial industry and in KYC process with additional experience of handling operational risk, projects, data analysis, Audits and regulatory exams

Position Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Key Meetings
  • Contribute to the monthly (as required) CLM QA and / or AFC QA calibration call
  • Contribute to the monthly (as required) AFC QA consolidated call
  • Oversee the daily/ weekly local SME meeting
  • Oversee the weekly Leadership Huddle in conjunction with the Operations Lead
  • Contribute to the weekly Senior Management Meeting (as required)
  • Contribute to the monthly Quality Scorecard Meeting (as required)
  • Contribute to the weekly regional quality agenda
  • Accountable for overall quality of the branch and individual team members
  • Leads by example
  • Motivate and create good morale
  • Building and maintain team cohesion and togetherness throughout the branch
  • Share positive messages, highlight good performance and celebrate success
  • Guide the team in the same direction through challenges

  • Forward thinking in new ways to improve branch performance
  • Escalate process improvements to the management and central team

  • Hold discussions with team leads on how to improve quality within the teams
  • Hold individual discussions or together with team lead to discuss their poor performance, consequences and improvement activities
