Job summary

This role sits within the commodities technology function and focuses on providing application and production support for the firm’s in-house risk, analytics, and trading platforms. The engineer will work closely with portfolio managers and traders to ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of critical front-office applications while continuously driving improvements through automation and optimization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain production systems supporting risk, analytics, and trading platforms within the commodities business.
• Respond to and resolve system alerts, incidents, and user queries efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Implement automation and monitoring enhancements to improve application performance and operational visibility.
• Collaborate with trading, analytics, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues and deliver sustainable solutions.
• Build subject matter expertise across key applications and provide ongoing technical and functional support.
• Participate in release cycles, environment checkouts, and weekend support as required.
• Ensure seamless issue handovers and coordination across global support regions.

Requirements

• Experience supporting financial or commodities applications with direct exposure to traders or portfolio managers.
• Strong scripting and programming skills in Python, UNIX/Shell, and SQL.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Maven etc
• Good understanding of market data, risk, and PnL systems within trading environments.
• Ability to work under pressure, multitask effectively, and manage production stability in a fast-paced setting.
• Self-motivated problem-solver who takes ownership of issues from identification through resolution.
