We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Head of Retail Underwriting.

Principal responsibilities

  • To deliver fair and accurate decisions for all policy holders in respect of underwriting new life and health insurance applications and assessment of subsequent Claims experience across all underwritten products
  • To lead, motivate, develop and manage a team of Underwriters
  • To deliver excellent customer experience in line with defined policies, standards and procedures
  • Monitoring of underwriting risks and claims experience arising from the writing of life and health insurance obligations, principally mortality, morbidity, lapse and expense risk.
  • To manage various internal and external relationships across global and local Insurance business, third party suppliers and regulator
  • To directly manage customer relationships regarding the underwriting or claims decisions in respect of their insurance policy.
  • To lead the underwriting and claims managers to achieve the business objectives and ensure effective and efficient customer service and adherence to insurance risk appetite
  • To continually develop and document underwriting and claims procedures to align with strategy, policies, changes in legislation and regulation and medical practice and techniques impacting mortality and morbidity risk


Qualifications
Requirements
  • ​ Significant medical knowledge with the ability to understand its impact on long term insurance portfolios
  • Insurance underwriting ,claims and reassurance experience with personal authority to assess all life, critical illness disability and group insurance products.
  • Experience in a senior management and customer facing role
  • Experience in a team leadership role
  • Ability to lead, manage and develop a team of individuals with specialist knowledge and experience
  • Relationship Management skills are required to maintain positive relationships both internally and externally
