Join Our South West Technology Hub

Located in the heart of Bristol, a top 10 city in Europe for tech, you will be joining a new team that will comprise of analysts, creative designers, front-end engineers, solution engineers and testers, that will provide creative digital and technology services for our clients in the South West and beyond.

Your role

You will be working in cross functional teams together with strategists, UI designers, visual designers, full-stack and back-end developers. You will be responsible for translating great concept & design into code to create quick-loading and accessible UX, used by hundreds of thousands.

As a front-end engineer we'd like you to:
•Have previous experience with front-end development
•Have a clear understanding of JavaScript ES6 and the JavaScript Event Loop
•Be familiar with WAI-ARIA, WCAG 2.0, and accessibility in general
•Know when to use float, inline-block, flex or CSS grid
•Know how to git
•Have previously worked with React/Redux, Vue/Vuex or similar
•Have a good understanding of visual and user centred design
•Are proactive and believe team effort is everything
•Admire new thinking and ground-breaking ideas

As a full time member of the Technology Hub our aspiration is for you to serve our clients in the South West either from the Hub in central Bristol or when required at client site in the region. Being an Engineer at Deloitte Digital

You have useful, core skills in one or more technologies that you can apply in a project context, and you are starting to move beyond the precise practices you were taught, gaining a better understanding of the underlying principles that make them work. You will take responsibility for your own productivity, and begin to take ownership over components within an overall solution. It's also likely that you will also start to manage and mentor some more junior people on your project.

General expectations:
•Working independently within your core technical skillset.
•Applying relevant good practice design and coding standards to your own work.
•Formulating designs for components and small solutions, working with more senior developers to obtain ideas and feedback.
•Being self-driven in terms of quality and process.
•Identifying and escalating risks appropriately.
•Actively and constructively participating in delivery processes and ceremonies such as planning sessions, retrospectives, and reviews.
•Supporting and mentoring more junior developers.
•Engaging with and contributing to the wider practice outside of the immediate project.

Technical expectations:
•Awareness of relevant design patterns.
•Deep understanding of object-orientated programming, data structures, and algorithms.
•Writing effective automated unit and integration tests.
•Understanding RESTful web services.
•Understanding core agile practices such as Scrum and Kanban.
•Being familiar with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
•Comfortably using version control system such as git.
