Weapons Research Analyst - Aerospace, Defense & Security (Jane's)
The Weapons Team requires a generalist to work to support across all areas, including Infantry Weapons, Ammunition and Air Launched Weapons also supporting the Missiles and PGW Forecast areas.

Job Requirements:
  • Update and create reference records as directed and to deliver to metrics as provided by the line manager
  • Provide a quality assurance service to the weapons Team by cross checking and correcting documents, reports and other products and to have these returned to the originator within 2 working days of receipt
  • Respond to CAT team changes to records within 5 working days
  • Provide input to consultancy projects as directed by the line manager and support this with research as required. Input to be delivered to timescale as required by the line manager
  • Provide technical support to Aerospace Defense & Security weapons team
  • Provide webinar and briefing input as required including research, creation and delivery
  • Write or have input to news stories on weapons related issues as required
  • Build relationships with manufacturers and users for research and information gathering
  • Attend defense shows, conferences and events, gather pertinent information, build relationships and contacts and as required write relevant news articles
  • Demonstrates a developing ability to communicate good understanding of selected markets and industries and/or more sophisticated analytical tools via subscription content or consultancy
  • Provides timely analyst commentary and insight including to internal audiences and clients; interfaces with other experts on the region/industry to ensure consistency in IHS Markit's analysis across different markets and functional areas
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of selected markets and industries as well as analytical tools; develops a network of relevant industry or country contacts, identifies opportunities and collaborates on execution of complex research/forecast topics

Technical Capabilities:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail, including relevant language skills as appropriate
  • Good knowledge of MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and ability to use effectively including familiarity with interrogating relevant databases
  • Organization and problem-solving skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be flexible with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all co-workers, can work independently
  • First degree and/or second degree and/or 5+ years relevant country or industry experience
