We are now looking for a Heat Led Operations Controller to join our Finance team based in Coventry.

This is a critical role within the finance department Business and Community Solutions; it will lead all functional controlling support and finance business partnering in connection to the portfolio of UK CHP (Combined Heat & Power) stations including both owned sites and operations and maintenance contracts of customer sites.
Here’s what you’ll be doing
You’ll have full functional controlling support for the P&L and all other financial dimensions (balance sheet/cash/CAPEX) and you’ll be the lead business partner to business head, and site budget holders. Additionally, you’ll provide expertise on financial processes to site managers, team leaders, their budget holders and all staff/contractors on-site as well as commercial business support in order to drive performance and support the business, providing detailed financial reports to support existing external customer contracts.
It will be up to you to capture financial risks and opportunities and have input into their resolution, to provide controlling of maintenance projects (CAPEX/OPEX) incl. support of project prioritization and ensure consistent standards in terms of process and reporting quality, adhering to common finance policies, processes, systems and procedures as required by the business.
With your understanding of the key financial drivers for the sites you’ll effectively manage financial controls on site in line with internal policy and external regulation and brief the site management team on emergent issues ensure finances are kept within budget and forecasts are delivered. And you’ll lead MTP, forecast and budgeting, along with provision of insightful analysis and interpretation to guide and inform long term business strategy and decision making.
You’ll be responsible for plant related input in centrally steered processes e.g. portfolio review, performance review, benchmarking, impairment reviews, valuations, KPIs, statutory accounts, audits and for operation of the finance and controlling processes at the dedicated plants (master data, budget controlling, project controlling, cost centre reviews).
You’ll provide full financial insight on heat led assets gross margin performance and holistic understanding of the power led assets P&L and overall profitability, working with both operational and commercial teams to help maximize financial performance.
Working flexibly to create different scenario positions will help you identify different forecast/plan outcomes to assist with meeting top-down targets and working highly collaboratively with the wider finance team and business leaders will enable you to create a well-controlled, highly effective commercial environment with regard to financial processes and systems.

What we need from you
- Be educated up to degree level, with a relevant professional or accounting qualification, as well as significant post-qualification experience.
- A highly developed understanding of core finance processes, management accounting, forecasting and reporting.
- The ability to build excellent working relationships at all business levels.
- The ability to provide effective support for decision-makers and produce excellent work for tight deadlines.
- A willingness to travel to sites across the UK to meet stakeholders.
It would be great if you had
- Experience managing stakeholders in a multi-site environment.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and systems experience.

This role is based in Coventry.
This is a permanent position.
