AVP Payroll Manager – EMEA

As part of the International Payroll Team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of the global Finance strategy. Supporting business growth in an increasingly regulated environment whilst ensuring payroll and tax is compliant across the region.
This is a key role within the organisation overseeing complex multi country payrolls including the monthly processing of 50+ employing entities across the EMEA region. The Payroll Manager will have the responsibility for ensuring that all salaries, associated deductions and benefits are processed/paid on a timely basis by the whole team. They will also be responsible for ensuring all statutory filings are completed and deadlines met.
  • Project manage the payroll integration for a recently acquired company (26 countries, 900+ employees)
  • SME and project participant for all business initiatives impacting payroll across EMEA (new office openings, Brexit contingency planning etc.)
  • Lead, develop and motivate a team of EMEA Payroll professionals
  • Deputise for the International Payroll Manager
  • Identify and progress opportunities for improvement within the region, that align to the global Finance strategy & business strategy
  • Reduce the number of payroll vendors in the region and partner with global payroll on this initiative
  • Drive cost reduction across payroll platforms in the region, adopting standardised services where possible to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Support business growth generally and through acquisitions.
  • Ensure all benefit programmes across the region are administered in accordance with the plan rule.
  • Provide guidance with regard to the management and prioritisation of all payroll related projects, ensuring all proposed changes are fully understood and executed.
  • Responsible for succession planning and strategic hiring for the team
  • Compliance with all EMEA statutory tax filings on a timely basis
  • Ensure efficient and high-quality execution of payroll process, establishing performance metrics, and meeting internal timelines.
  • Ongoing identification of operational & regulatory risk, ensuring clear mitigation plans are identified, tracked and implemented
  • Provide advice and guidance to relevant stakeholders on the operational & technical aspects of Payroll across the region
  • Ensure consistent management of third party providers and oversee relationships, resolving issues as necessary
  • Prepare recommendations & implement any new payroll related initiatives
  • Maintain the equity programme for the region, ensuring the correct tax withholding and payroll processing where appropriate
  • Responsible for all system implementations affecting payroll and supporting implementation of any benefit related platforms.
  • Provide accurate payroll costing reports for statutory accounting
  • Positive resolution of payroll/HR systems issues to supporting business performance
  • Drive a high performance and risk aware culture within the payroll team through strong leadership
  • Develop a close working relationship with key stakeholders within HR, accounting, tax, legal etc ensuring alignment of objectives and deliverables
  • Review all payroll procedure on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance of SOX and external audit requirements
  • Key Business Contingency Planning contact for Payroll, ensuring always that payroll is structured to handle any unplanned event.
  • Acting as chief coordinator for all audit related matters (internal and external), with oversight of HR processes to ensure compliance with the documented measurable tasks.
  • Preparing statistical reports on team member pay, commissions and bonuses, vacation, sick, disability and workers compensation leave, taxes and withholdings.
  • Undertake any ad hoc projects, as required

The International Payroll team is responsible for providing a comprehensive service to all lines of business and it supports entities across locations in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with expected expansion internationally in 2018.   • Graduate caliber
  • Full knowledge of EMEA payrolls/benefit administration & related legislation
  • Global and/or Country specific payroll knowledge required
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Extensive experience of working in a payroll environment
  • Working knowledge of EMEA payroll and benefits
  • Previous managerial experience

Key Technical Skills

  • Well developed IT skills including advanced excel
  • Understands accounting principles and cost allocations and reconciliation
