Portfolio Management Services helps clients streamline their business by providing outsourced access to IHS Markit's best-in-class products and services for middle and back office operations.

Position summary We were founded as the first independent source of credit derivative pricing and today, our data, valuations and trade processing services are regarded as the market standard in the global financial markets, helping our clients to reduce risk, improve operational efficiency and meet regulatory requirements. With over 1,300 institutions using our independent services as clients - including investment banks, hedge funds, asset managers, central banks, regulators, rating agencies and insurance companies - we provide round-the-clock support from our offices in London, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Toronto, Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney.

IHS Markit WSO, a business within IHS Markit, has an opening for an Account Specialist that will be responsible for managing a part of our European and Asian client base. The responsibilities will require the individual to manage multiple clients on a variety of different levels of involvement as it relates to WSO. The individual's duties will include client relationship management, project management, client training, product support and sales support. In addition to the existing client base, the individual will work with sales on attracting prospects as well as on-boarding new clients. A key component as an Account Specialist will be the ability form relationships with their clients striving to have IHS Markit WSO seen as a partner in their business rather than just another vendor. In order to achieve this there is a high degree of hands-on management of risks, opportunities and projects which require a large amount of coordination between clients and IHS Markit internal departments across many different regions. Travel will be required as necessary.

Duties & accountabilities Client Relationship Management
Requires the candidate to reach out and/or visit clients to:

  • Promote communication
  • Build and improve relationships
  • Address issues and/or come up with and implement solutions that result in additional utilization of WSO and/or other IHS Markit products
  • Understand clients' operational needs
  • Solicit feedback for product initiatives and enhancements

Project Management
Manage projects through all stages of the life cycle. This involves:
  • Working with stakeholders/clients to define, execute and ensure that solutions are delivered in the expected time frame
  • Documenting projects throughout their life cycle to ensure transparency to stakeholders/clients and management
  • Coordinating across different teams within the client and IHS Markit to maximize efficiency and client satisfaction
  • Becoming comfortable with the WSO product suite in order to manage the on-boarding of new clients

Client Training
Ensure clients fully utilize products and services provided to them. This involves:
  • Assisting clients to become more efficient in the use of WSO
  • Conducting one-on-one or group training sessions for clients

Product Support
Resolve issues clients have with WSO. This involves:
  • Independent research and testing of the software to confirm the issue
  • Knowing the product and whether the issue can be resolved via an update or upgrade
  • Knowing from a business/finance/accounting perspective why a particular behavior of the product is being reported as an issue
  • If a defect is found, coordinating with product teams to define the issue and resolve it

Sales Support
Support the sales process by being able to:
  • Demo the software for prospective clients
  • Promote other IHS Markit products to existing clients
  • Identify opportunities with existing clients

Business competencies Education and experience
  • Several years experience in accounting, finance or financial systems

Commercial awareness
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable speaking with clients and forming close working relationships
  • PC skills - Microsoft Office, Excel modeling skills a plus

Management requirements
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, analytical, self-starter and strong work ethic
