Android Engineer - Banking - London

A global banking group are looking for a number of Android Developers to work on innovative new projects as part of Digital Evolution programme. The team helps the organisation to really understanding how we leverage these digital touch points and the increasingly varied device capabilities that they run on, to stay relevant and fully embrace the rapidly evolving mobile first digital landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical leading a team or multiple teams within a Lab.
  • Contributing to the technical leadership team's work of driving the technology and future of the platform.
  • Working with the Strategy and UX/UI Design teams as well as customer organisations to architect, design, and implement solutions.
  • Designing, developing and productising mobile components and services.
  • Determine, apply and improve appropriate methodologies and toolsets for a customers culture and operating environment.
  • Complete solutions by coordinating, communicating, and contributing to team meetings and customer engagements.
  • Explore up-and-coming technologies and software products; seize learning and knowledge sharing opportunities.
  • Support the team by providing advice, coaching, and educational opportunities

Required Skills:
  • You have strong knowledge of designing a mobile experience for variable screen sizes in variable versions of Android. Strong knowledge of Android SDK
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services -(RXJAVA preferable but not mandatory)
  • Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Understanding of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Hands-on experience of continuous delivery.
  • understanding of basic App architectures (preferably MVP)
  • confident knowledge about industry best practice libraries (Dagger2, RxJava, RxAndroid, Retrofit, Butterknife) familiarity with Kotlin language"

Desirable Skills:
  • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
  • Understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive web design as well as knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services."
