Assistant Vice President, Java / .NET Development and Support Lead

MUFG Bank is looking for a Java developer for cross training in Electronic Content Management - a self-starter who can work independently and drive results.Working as part of an established and growing team, this role is responsible for delivering development and maintenance on a range of new and existing applications and platforms. Improving existing applications/platforms and introducing new ones to support the changing requirements of MUFG business operations. These applications are based around Java EE and also vendor ECM applications such as IBM FileNet and the Kofax suite of solutions.

Overview of the Department / Section:

EMEA Systems Office provides IT Services to BTMU’s London and EMEA Offices. The Department is responsible for managing the delivery of projects and programmes of work to realize strategic business outcomes, liaising extensively with other ESO, EMEA offices & HO functions. In addition the department is accountable for platform maintenance and life-cycle of all vendor applications, in-house applications and infrastructure.

 

Main Purpose of the Role:

These applications are based around Java EE and also vendor ECM applications such as IBM FileNet and the Kofax suite of solutionsThis role is also involved in the ongoing 2nd and 3rd level support of the applications and platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and resourcing for upcoming projects and recruiting new members of the Platform Team where necessary, to ensure the right members of staff are available to complete the tasks in hand.
  • Supporting the Platform Lead and Product Manager in delivery of BAU and change works relating to the platforms and keeps the Product Manager informed of any changes as necessary, to help support the Bank’s medium-term business plans.
  • Developing and maintaining solutions in Java and vendor ECM applications.
  • Has oversight and guides analysis of business and system requirements to ensure the designs support those requirements.
  • Ensuring implementation into production fulfils the design and requirement.
  • Ensuring production and maintenance of project and support documents satisfy the requirements of ESO and BTMU policies and procedures.
  • Providing 3rd and in some cases 2nd line support (in line with agreed support models) for applications and platforms in RCAS area to ensure that incidents, problems and queries are resolved in timely manner.
  • Developing close working relationships with ESO teams, branch BTMU IT teams, business users and vendors to ensure user receive timely and effective support.
  • Supporting the estimation, planning and scheduling of projects and Change Requests to help ensure timely delivery of application and platforms that match business and ESO needs.
  • Managing work around the virtual project team or with in the RACS matrix team in order to effectively deliver projects, SWEs and effective support of applications.
  • Carries out management reviews and audits of all projects in their program or portfolio to ensure all Bank standards and policies are adhered to.
  • Accountable for the effective management of the team’s performance, ensuring they comply with the organisation’s governance policies and procedures. Ensure all team members are clear on what is expected and how they are performing against KPIs.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

Essential -

  • End to End Java and/ or .Net development skills, data knowledge
  • Hands on experience on Java, DOJO, Java script, Webservices, Widgets.
  • Able to demonstrate a broad technical understanding of the application and infrastructure stack, to include a number of the following: File and message transmission protocols, SQL and/or Oracle databases, Websphere, IIS, Apache Tomcat, operating systems (Windows, Linux), application monitoring.
  • Experience in design / development of new application in Java and/or .Net.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, and must be able to document and articulate to others key issues in the application and infrastructure arena.
  • Able to drive problem resolution through the appropriate escalation channels.
  • Able to confidently participate in white board type design and review sessions.
  • Experience in Vendor management and cross training.
  • A team player, approachable and flexible but also able to work independently.

 

Preferred Funcational / Technical Skills and Knowledge Requirements -

  • Development skills in ECM solutions (such as FileNet and IBM Case Manager).
  • Knowledge of AML, Document Scanning, FAX and ECM solutions (such as FileNet P8, IBM Case Manager, Records Manager).
  • Has good knowledge of all aspects of Application Delivery and Support with a specific bias towards general AML and Middle Office systems.
  • Knowledge of Transaction Banking applications and technologies an advantage.
  • ITIL Foundation (or above) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, and must be able to document and articulate to others key issues in the application and infrastructure arena.
