Associate – Portfolio Monitoring & Valuations Team Our client is a private equity firm, looking for an associate to join the Valuations and Portfolio Monitoring team. The role will work very closely with the head of the department and will have excellent exposure to all areas of the business and their underlying investments, as well access to partners, directors, and other senior stakeholders.

Our client is a private equity firm, looking for an associate to join the Valuations and Portfolio Monitoring team.

The role will work very closely with the head of the department and will have excellent exposure to all areas of the business and their underlying investments, as well access to partners, directors, and other senior stakeholders. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the firm’s investment valuation process
    • Maintain Valuation Policy, recommending changes in line with updates to industry guidelines and best practice.
    • Manage the six-monthly valuation exercise including; communications with investment teams, provision of valuation templates, review and challenge of proposed assumptions.
    • Prepare schedules and analysis to support the Portfolio Committee meetings.  Attend to minute follow-up and actions and provide support to committee as required.
    • Liaison with the auditors of each Fund to assist in their annual audit of valuations.
    • Preparation of a quarterly update presentation for investors.
    • Support the budgeting process with estimated forecast valuations.
    • Analysis of sources of value creation by investment.
  • Responsible for the exit forecasting process
    • Oversee the regular updating of forecast outcomes for each investment. 
    • Provide a regular assessment of future investment cash flows, analysis against current valuations and analysis of implied Fund performance.  Support scenario planning and stress-testing of the portfolio.
  • Support an ongoing project to automate the valuation and exit processes to reduce reliance on Excel, improve the consolidation of data and streamline scenario planning.
  • Manage the monthly Portfolio Monitoring process
    • Oversee the collation and analysis of monthly financial performance data from each portfolio company.  Responsible, along with support from team members, for the maintenance and development of the company’s Portfolio Monitoring system
    • Support the Portfolio Committee meetings though provision of monthly reports and analysis.
    • Provision of consistent financial trading data to other teams.
  • Manage the Portfolio Analyst in the team, providing support and guidance.
  • Support the Portfolio Analyst with assistance on, and covering for, certain processes:
    • Monitoring and reporting on deals pipeline, through regular interactions with the investment teams and organising a monthly Group call on the current pipeline.
    • Monitoring and reporting on investment team activity and productivity, supporting the year-end assessment of team performance.
    • Support a number of regular presentations prepared by the Investor Relations team with valuations / trading data. 
    • Support requests from investors and other teams for portfolio / investment performance data

Qualifications:

  • Qualified ACA or equivalent
  • Exposure to valuations from within private equity or the Big 4
