Business Unit Overview:

The role is within the Product Governance function of the Global Product Group (GPG). GPG serves a pivotal role as BlackRock's central point for product governance. GPG brings Innovation, discipline, and focus to BlackRock's investment product line by aligning client and investment teams in the design and execution of product-related initiatives. The role of GPG involves;
  • Coordinate and govern BlackRock's product agenda
  • Provide guidance for strategic and tactical product decisions
  • Implement new product launches and govern the firm-wide product pipeline
  • Facilitate exchange of best practices across the firm, review industry and competitor trends to commercialize new business opportunities
  • Provide critical input on and proactively lead and respond to regulatory change

The Product Governance team was created within GPG to centralize BlackRock's product committees (including PDC, Resources, Capacity) and to enhance our governance and procedures. The function ensures the smooth running of the product committees enabling the development of new products and review of existing products. It ensures there is effective control of product governance and implement the controls required under MiFID II.  

Job Purpose/Background: 
Due to the regulatory and governance responsibilities of running these committees there is a requirement for a position to work alongside the EMEA Product Governance Head in GPG. The role will ensure that GPG maintains credibility with our senior stakeholders and ensures the effective running of the various BlackRock Product Committees, whilst maintaining compliance with our Product Governance obligations.

The role provides senior stakeholder interaction and enables the development and review of new and existing products through the various product committees.

The role has scope to take ownership and develop a number of key processes and controls, for example, capacity monitoring, and obligations under MiFID II.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Preparation, compilation and review of material used for the Committee Meetings, particularly for the monthly Product Development Committee meeting.
  • Assist with PDC member pre-briefing sessions
  • Preparation and review of material for Capacity Committee meetings, both ad-hoc and regular monthly meetings.
  • Post-Committee communication (Metrics, executive summaries / actions / follow-up items).
  • Reviewing and enhancing processes to create efficiencies.
  • Preparation of Product risk material. Enhancing and maintaining the risk and control governance framework. 
  • Assist in MiFID II Product Governance - MiFID II ongoing review, develop framework for Target Market Distributor feedback and maintaining key source documents.  
  • Preparation of material for Fund Boards.
  • Assist in reviewing BlackRock seed capital in EMEA funds.

  • Previous relevant experience in the investment funds industry/business
  • Good knowledge of investment and/or distribution of a broad range of investment strategies and products. 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business unit and key stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach to seek process improvements and efficiencies
