Department Description
Within the CIB Rates Operations, the migration to Athena is a strategic initiative that will see a complete front to back re-engineering of both the applications and the operating model supporting the rates and emerging market trading business. The group provides a unique mix of project skills and product experience enabling it to provide a consistent, high-quality and responsive approach to the way we manage and execute change across the Corporate & Investment Bank.

The Team
Athena is a strategic platform for processing and risk managing securities and derivatives in the Investment Bank. It is currently used by the FX and Commodities businesses globally. It is responsible for product modelling, trade capture, risk, event and position management, providing the books and records to the bank for trades and feeding downstream back office systems such as accounting, settlements, legal documentation and regulatory reporting. The products managed on this platform range from high volume listed and flow derivative products to extremely complex over-the-counter structured and securitized derivatives.
The Role
Athena is impacting a wide array of systems and stakeholders. As such, there will be frequent interactions with Trading, Sales and Business Management, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Technology, Quantitative Research, Credit / Market Risk. The role will expose the individual to a variety of functions and Subject Matter Experts within the Bank and as such they will need to able to learn quickly and build relationships at all levels.
The ideal candidate would have a good understanding of the Rates business. He would have a previous experience leading streams of a large risk management migration. We are looking for someone who can drive all aspects of a project, from initiation, to build, UAT and delivery to the end users. The role will also have an analytical aspect, and as such, will require being at ease with extracting and manipulating data.
Projects are tracked and monitored using a variety of tools and artefacts (JIRA/MS Project /Excel /Powerpoint), with updates presented to various levels of management from PWG to PCC and Steering Committee. The candidate will assist with facilitating these sessions by scheduling them, preparing materials such as scorecards, attending to logistics and recording and tracking actions and decisions.
Project Manager /Business Analyst
• Project Initiation and Identification of Stakeholders
• Standing up governance processes and artefacts, strong process skills
• Performed business analysis for specific program workstreams
• Preparation of Testing Strategies and Management of UAT
• Setting Entry / Exit criteria for the major Phases and ensuring compliance with record keeping and other policies
• Partnering with Technology and Operation to ensure alignment with the Testing Strategy
• Co-ordination of E2E testing including Environments, Dates, Resources
• Metrics, Issue management and escalation

Experience
• 5 years + in managing large scale, front to back change programmes

• Extensive experience within the Investment Banking Sector, preferably in Tier 1 banks or consulting
• Background in Technology or Operations Change

Generic Skills
• Strong knowledge of the Rates Derivatives products and processes.
• Logical and structured approach to planning and problem solving and decision-making
• Very strong analytical, prioritisation and organisational skills
• Self starter, and able to extract the sub components of an high level ask
• Ability to communicate confidently and influence internal and external stakeholders
• Good MS Office skills - Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
• Risk and controls awareness.
• Capacity to think laterally and convey an understanding of the big picture
