Department overview

Nomura's EMEA Compliance department works to offer advice, guidance and oversight to the business on all matters related to regulatory compliance and regulatory expectations in the region. The Compliance team works very closely all departments across the firm and with other Compliance teams in Nomura to offer consistent compliance advice and solutions in a rapidly changing and evolving regulatory environment.

Role description

The role will cover a number of areas of responsibility including Business As Usual; Project Management; and Training Delivery across EMEA Compliance.

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Production and delivery of an annual plan of Compliance training covering key Compliance themes, anticipated regulatory developments, business specific training with monitoring and reporting against that plan;
  • Work in collaboration with other departments on all Mandatory Training including scheduling of training to meet various business, regulatory and legal deadlines
  • Develop Compliance training using a range of media and working with suppliers on content development and enhancement
  • Deliver face-to-face training on Conduct and Compliance matters to key stakeholders on a periodic basis
  • Support the department with development of a training programme for Compliance staff;
  • Production of reporting and MI to the business and management on training
  • Work with an internal support team based offshore on a regular basis and Compliance in other Nomura offices on an ad-hoc basis on the development, delivery and management of training
  • Ability to support the work across Employee Compliance including Personal Account Dealing, Gifts & Entertainment and Certification would be an asset

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

  • Compliance Training experience
  • Ability to represent the wider Compliance function credibly in discussions with other departments and with senior management;
  • Good understanding of the main responsibilities and functions of Compliance and of regulatory expectations in relation to the function;
  • Good awareness of the UK regulatory environment and how this impacts a firm such as Nomura
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (including presentation skills);
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong inter-personal and organisational skills;
  • Superior time management skills;
