Credit Risk Officer - Emerging Markets Corporates and FI's

My client a Tier One Investment Bank is looking for a talented Credit Risk Analyst to cover a portfolio of financial institutions (FI) and corporates in the CEEMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Analysing bank financial statements, prospectuses, constituting documents, and news flow with a view of formulating and substantiating a recommendation for credit appetite and risk rating (towards assessing probability of default)
  • Taking ownership and being accountable for a portfolio of counterparties
  • Analysing and determining credit risk associated with proposed transactions for those counterparties, understanding how these transactions fit within the counterparty's strategy
  • Ensuring that portfolio of counterparties are analysed, accurately rated, and monitored on a timely basis
  • Follow, monitor and elevate market trends and events which may impact the credit quality of the counterparties covered
  • Engage with business partners and participate in recommendations to Independent Risk Management. Play an active role in the due diligence process and analysis of complex credits and transactions, as well as more standard ones
  • Recommending credit terms for legal agreements governing such transactions

Key Skills Required

  • Strong credit skills and risk judgment, and ability to defend rigorously a fact based point of view, both within Risk, as well as to senior business partners
  • Sound product/technical and process knowledge across lending and derivative (FX, rates, commodities and equities) products
  • Knowledge and relevant credit experience of European, Middle East & Africa financial institution and regulated markets
  • Understanding of credit risk sensitivities in the portfolio and risk drivers of exposure
  • Familiarity with derivatives documentation (ISDA/CSA) and LMA loan documentation
  • Ensuring that the portfolio and credit management process are at all times rated "satisfactory" by internal auditors, the Credit Review group and external Regulators
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with ability to resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Acting as an agent of change/improvement, influencing corporate policy/procedure and projecting a positive strategic vision
  • Commercial mindset to support value added discussions with the clients and Relationship Managers
  • Experience gained with an investment bank, or other financial institution
  • Knowledge and relevant credit experience of financial institution and regulated markets in the CEEMEA region
  • Corporate sector industries is preferred but not required
