EMEA Head of Governance

The primary responsibilities of this role are to identify, develop, implement and monitor Governance practices for the region and meet the standards for all applicable internal and external regulatory guidelines.

This is a new strategic leadership position for a major Banking brand.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Exercising appropriate governance, leadership and oversight on behalf of the EMEA COO to develop, implement and improve corporate governance structure and processes within the EMEA platform.
  • Work with the key internal stakeholders to provide guidance and coordinate governance activities, policies, projects and change initiatives.  Processes should be streamlined and whenever possible synchronized with similar processes that are undertaken by other parts of the company.
  • Ensure there is a coordinated approach to governance across the legal entities; interface with the EMEA Risk and Compliance, Legal and Company Secretariat teams to ensure that key governance documents are aligned (e.g. Strategy, Operating Plan, and Charters).
  • Alignment with the team monitoring Regulatory Developments impacting the region’s governance model with particular emphasis on the Senior Manager Regime.
  • Responsible for the continuous review of governance arrangements for effectiveness and efficiency plus consistently communicating this governance model and objectives across the EMEA region and provide direction and leadership as needed.
  • Responsible for EMEA COO Policies and procedures

To be considered for the role:

  • Strong leadership capability; leads by example, fosters trust and is aligned with the Company’s vision and values 
  • Extensive proven governance experience, from a similar role is strongly preferred in large corporate environment in the financial services sector with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with the functioning of committees and corporate governance and presenting reports and briefings to a senior executive audience.
  • Must be able to work independently while providing leadership and positive collaboration within a fast paced, team environment.
  • Able to execute large complex initiatives in a large corporate environment, while effectively partnering with others.
  • Strategic thinking skills, including the ability to analyse business issues and identify key risks/mitigating controls, combined with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with both the line of business and technical Team Members.
