Global Cost Management Lead - Global Markets Operations

Role Purpose

  • To lead the global cost management team located in four regional hubs, for Global Market Operations. The role will involve day to day leadership of the team; prioritization of workload; scheduling and execution of delivery tasks; briefing of senior management within GM Operations [Global Head and ExCo]; monitoring of AOP vs actuals and forecast; providing explanations of variances; establishing innovative ideas for cost save initiatives; providing reporting and commentary to senior management with the business [Global Markets and GBM]; liaison with the business on regular reporting and ad hoc queries; monitoring and forward planning of HC and costs; provision of MI to support reporting; the development of ongoing MI; tracking; provision of client [internal] servicing in the form of ensuring the ExCo are made aware of and understand all elements of their cost plan. Lastly, to build a comprehensive AOP for forthcoming years.
  • Working closely with Operations Teams globally and other incumbent departments, to re-engineer and standardize processes where appropriate; and responsible for Satellite Site investigations.

Key Accountabilities

Impact on Business

  • Subject Matter Expert in Cost Management and Accountancy
  • Principal point of contact for Cost Management across Global Market Operations and a point of escalation for all stakeholders.
  • Provision of regular reporting on GM Operations cost, HC plan and actuals along with detailed commentary.
  • Continue to drive Global standardization and output.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Ability to proactively lead a global Cost Management Team across multiple locations and co-ordinate deliverables and output.
  • Take the lead in innovation across cost management with regards to organizational structure; report standardization and professionalism of the roles and job family.
  • Ability to communicate concisely and effectively to explain accounting and reporting issues to non-experts
  • Manage and prioritise workload and deadlines for the team.

  • Ability to identify areas/functions/tasks where process improvements and additional controls can be implemented

Major Challenges

  • The individual will need to deliver high quality MI to senior GM Operations Management and front office colleagues, and be confident in explaining the MI and articulating key messages at these levels.
  • The individual will need to be able to multi-task and re-prioritize activities at short notice
  • The individual will be expected to continuously seek to improve data quality and processes, driving forward enhancements whilst maintaining business as usual MI delivery
  • To assist in identifying and implementing ways for Operations to reduce costs on an ongoing basis

  • The incumbent will report to the Head of Business Management for Global Markets Operations.
