Aon are currently recruiting a Governance and Analytics Director to join our team in London. The Governance and Analytics Director will be primarily responsible for continuing to drive governance enhancements (incl. policy enhancements) across the Aon UK Limited (AUKL) business to take account of changes to the AUKL and the industry environments. The role may also work with other Aon UK companies or Aon Group on initiatives where required. Define and drive an analytical approach for Risk & Compliance (R&C), using the data the organisation generates and retains, to provide insightful analysis for the R&C management team to help focus the limited resources in areas of material importance e.g. informing the Compliance Assurance plan etc. Work with the CRO to assist in delivering smaller R&C change when required, including working with external consultants etc.

About the Role
 
Your impact as a Governance and Analytics Director:

 
• Define the team’s respective roles and responsibilities.
• Provide clear management, guidance and development to team.
• Create the team’s annual plans, processes and frameworks.
• Ensure that the G&A team’s plan and approach is clear and integrated with other R&C teams in order that the business sees ‘one professional and insightful service’ from R&C. Be clear on which team/individual is leading which piece of work and communicate effectively within R&C on progress.
• Ensure that the right people, with the right skills are working on each risk engagement (e.g. IT skills, operations etc.).

Reporting
• Help the CRO drive the reporting schedule for the department and provide peer review for the suite of reports that the department has to produce.
• Produce quality and timely reporting to the various governance committees across Aon. Both for the Non-Executive Committees (Board, Risk & Compliance and Audit Committees) and Executive committees (such as AUKL ExCo, business’s ERM Committees, ABC Risk Committee etc.).
• Help the CRO to ensure the R&C teams are producing targeted, intelligent, insightful and value-added content, written specifically for the right audience.
• Ensure that the output of the analytical work has its foundations in the context of the organization and that the messaging is logical, practical and insightful. It has to be able to be interpreted by the receiving functions to allow them to take informed decisions or take clear action.

Regulators
• Assist the Head of Compliance and CRO manage the FCA relationship when required.

Governance & Analytics
• Help position Aon as a thought leader in the areas that the G&A Director is responsible for.
• Attend key regulatory body forums when requested to by the CRO.
• Ensure that AUKL’s (and other companies where required) Governance arrangements continue to be enhanced in response to internal and external factors. Work with the other R&C leaders and CoSec to assess the effectiveness of the Aon governance environments and recommend improvements.
• Develop, maintain and administer the oversight and co-ordination of the AUKL & Group policy templates, framework and policy governance.
• Introduce and more data driven capability for the R&C function, designed to inform R&C managements plans and decision making. Team skills and potentially technology solutions need to be considered.
• Ensure that new industry developments are considered for use in Aon, with specific reference to the Governance of organisations and the use of analytics.
• Work with the CRO to structure and drive through R&C initiatives working with the other R&C team leaders.
• Ensure there is a close working relationship with the other R& teams, so that co-ordination of reporting, analytics and initiatives is as seamless as possible and is viewed as integrated by the business.
• As a senior manager within the department, act as an ambassador for the R&C team.
 
Responsibility for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.
 
About you
 
Your knowledge and expertise:

 
• Education Degree level (or equivalent) or significant industry experience in the field of expertise
• Professional Specialist qualifications relating to the role or insurance qualifications
• Proven ability to lead on discussions, and ability to represent Aon, with FSA and other regulators.
• Detailed knowledge of financial services industry, regulation, operating practices and technology.
• Excellent oral/written communication, planning, project management, networking and influencing skills.
• Excellent people engagement skills and experience of influencing a multi-disciplinary team of professional staff.
• Strong experience of working in a cross-functional environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management, relationship building and influencing skills at senior management level.
• Dynamic and proactive bringing energy and enthusiasm to compliance subjects.
• Team player.
• Confidence and credibility to face off to the organisation’s most senior management and directors.
