My client, a leading global bank, is looking for an experienced accountant with extensive consolidation experience to join their group financial reporting team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • External statutory guidance and review to support the reporting process for quarterly results announcements and annual reports
  • Support new IFRS and regulatory reporting requirements
  • To act as the review and challenge over the financial reporting processes and numbers to ensure high levels of control are maintained at all times
  • To act as financial control function for consolidation and parent company accounts
  • Working with external auditors to ensure timely resolution of accounting issues
  • Review and challenge of the data and supplementary analysis submitted by regional finance teams;
  • Providing assistance and advice to regional finance teams on issues relating to the external reporting and close process
  • Liaison with external and internal auditors
  • Responding to ad-hoc information requests from senior management and Investor Relations
  • Actively develop a culture of continuous improvement.  Review processes, procedures and requirements, on a regular basis, to identify areas for improvement and drive through the necessary changes
  • Ensure that the integrity of the financial data remains within the highest standard, by ensuring that adequate financial and process controls are in place
  • Review and authorise change requests taking account of implications for own area of expertise
  • Assess Change Requests for impact on existing  processes and architecture
  • Identify options and design solutions, working with the unit/business Project teams as subject matter expert to optimise services and outputs
  • Responsible for line management aspects in the Consolidation and Reporting team. Continually develop capabilities to raise the performance bar in the team.

Candidate Requirements

  • Past experience of working in a Group Financial Reporting team
  • Experience of new reporting standards including IFRS 9
  • Experience with and knowledge of Oracle Hyperion finance systems
  • Past experience managing/supporting a finance close process
  • University degree or equivalent
  • Qualified accountant with an understanding of a relevant functional area such as financial reporting, technical accounting in the banking sector or consolidation of Group accounts
  • Strong finance system experience, with the ability to understand and investigate issues
