The Business
We're hiring a Head of Audit for our Professional Practices team to join us in London

  • We're looking for an experienced audit professional to lead our Professional Practices team
  • This is a key, high profile role in Internal Audit, and a chance to take forward and shape the function's capability
  • You'll be drawing on - and further developing - a deep understanding of audit methodology and executive stakeholder engagement, making this an ideal way to position yourself for a future Chief Auditor opportunity

What you'll do

As Head of Audit for Professional Practices, you will deliver a flexible and risk based quality assurance plan that provides independent assurance and impactful opinions. You'll drive professional capability by maintaining and delivering a cross-function training curriculum and will be accountable for developing and maintaining the audit methodology, making sure it is aligned to industry best practice and championing quality audit execution across the global function. You can expect significant exposure to Executive stakeholders, including the opportunity to work with the Chief Audit Executive. Key aspects of your role will include:
  • Defining and maintaining a programme of work capable of informing our status against quality risk appetite
  • Producing reports and opinions that successfully influence executive management to manage quality risk prudently within risk appetite, and inform the Audit Committee executing their function
  • Recruiting and building the capability of the Professional Practices team and the broader function

The skills you'll need

This is a highly visible role with significant responsibility in the overall success of IA and you'll need to be an experienced audit professional with an in-depth understanding and experience of developing and maintaining audit methodology. You'll have experience of planning and delivering a risk based quality assurance plan in a financial services organisation; and ideally have had experience of owning or developing a training programme to support building professional capability. You'll also have a proven track record of leading, managing and developing a diverse team - ideally across multiple locations - and of delivering through others.

  • A forward looking strategic mindset, allowing you to remain up-to-date with industry best practice and drive forward improvements
  • Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively
  • The confidence and ability to challenge and influence effectively up to executive level when required
  • An understanding of the regulatory environment we operate in
