An Investment Management firm are looking for a Head of EMEA Finance to join their London office.

The Head of Finance EMEA is responsible for the oversight and management of the local finance function. This includes but is not limited to the accounting and administration of its products (predominantly UK and Irish fund ranges) together with the corporate entities. This role will require you to interact with key stakeholders across a wide variety of both local and global functions.

Reporting globally to the CFO/COO and locally to the CEO, this role will be varied and challenging and require a candidate with strong commercial acumen as well as executive presence and leadership credentials who can adapt to new regulation and a changing environment whilst maintaining best practice for the EMEA region and wider team. This role will ultimately be responsible for the direct management and leadership of the EMEA Finance team.



As the Head of Finance EMEA you will have oversight of three main groups; Corporate Accounting, Fund Accounting and EMEA Tax. This will include management of local teams and assigning resources as well as managing and reviewing internal control safeguards.

Within Corporate Accounting you will have direct oversight of account reporting and audits, quarterly board reports, UK government payment reporting, VAT returns and cost analysis, budgeting as well as expense approvals.

Key duties within Fund Accounting include but are not limited to; approval of distributions, oversight of outsourced providers, supply and approval of data for prospectuses and short form reports, regulatory capital requirements and supporting new fund launches.

The function of EMEA Tax is to partner closely with the global tax organization whilst also ensuring compliance with local tax regulation and effective management of the company’s liabilities and exposure. 


Purpose & Responsibilities  

  • Lead the firm’s development of its financial strategy, providing sound financial advice to the local and global executive group and other senior management.
  • Direct, lead and develop the EMEA finance function and its personnel
  • Maintain consistent oversight of all EMEA corporate entities
  • Develop and execute a financial strategy optimizing the Company’s current and projected financial position, in alignment with business strategy, whilst considering the external economic environment.
  • Review and approve bank payments as an account signatory
  • Work with the US fund and corporate senior managers to achieve maximum productivity for the EMEA function, including management and distribution of work
  • Ensures proper tools, policies and procedures are in place to facilitate achievement of financial strategy
  • Maintain and champion internal controls and processes
  • Oversee analysis of enterprise operations to identify cost savings opportunities where necessary.
  • Propose initiatives that promote efficiency and/or effectiveness
  • Take full responsibility and oversight for the timely review and submission of finance related regulatory returns
  • Oversee and manage the finance contribution on cross function projects
  • High level oversight of EMEA finance risk, and the ability to demonstrate a risk conscious approach with colleagues across all departments
  • Expert contributor to capital management, both corporate and fund accounting.


Leadership & Management

  • Management of the time and resources of the EMEA Finance function, which include, but is not limited to the day to day activities, performance reviews as well as constant development and optimisation of personnel and resources.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership and steer the EMEA finance team through a period of transformation, change and elevation.
  • Plan, develop and monitor the EMEA Finance strategy including vision, goals and action plans, and ensures the strategy complies with the overall company's business strategy
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the business with executive presence and confidence 
  • Represent finance at local executive committees, board meetings and global finance meetings
  • Attend compliance and regulatory meetings/committees
  • Ensure best practice and data integrity as well as acting as a final approver for EMEA Finance actions
  • Proven ability to promote cost discipline and be budget conscious in decision making and when advising the business.


Experience required

  • Qualified accountant from an internationally recognized body (Ideally ACA, ACCA)
  • 10+ years of PQE (post qualification experience) or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience in working with entities in continental Europe
  • Proven experience managing and leading a team through a time of transformation and growth
  • Highly commercial with regards to optimising sales, minimizing costs and balancing risks
  • Development and implementation of financial strategy within a PRA/FCA-regulated environment in a leadership controller/director position
  • Excellent financial modelling and forecasting skills; comfortable working with databases and using technology to produce high quality management information
  • Knowledge of finance from a broader EMEA perspective not isolated to the UK. Irish Entity and ManCO experience would be highly desirable.
