The Investment Banking and Capital Markets Department assists clients in achieving their objectives through mergers and acquisitions, debt, equity and other capital raising. The Department is a leader in innovating new and creative ideas for clients which help them access the best and most efficient capital sources. We combine our Industry and Country Coverage groups' global expertise and reach with the Bank's Product expertise to deliver such solutions efficiently and effectively to clients.

Main duties/responsibilities of the role:

The Head of Emerging Markets is responsible for planning and coordinating our Emerging Markets coverage in the LatAm, Emerging Europe and Emerging Asia regions. Supporting the Head of Emerging Markets, the ideal candidate will have to:
  • Contribute towards creating a centre of excellence on various Emerging Markets related topics, eg, Sovereign Wealth Funds, new pools of capital, etc
  • Strategic orientation to allow for an assessment and evaluation of key trends and opportunities in emerging markets around the world
  • Assist with creating and updating marketing materials that differentiate CS knowledge of and positioning in Emerging Markets
  • Help to drive the client franchise by working with our sector groups and EM offices globally to generate opportunities of relevance to EM and developed country clients
  • Enhance collaboration among EMs and between EMs and developed country coverage and product groups by preparing and participating in periodic calls with EM leaders to share opportunities
  • Create and refresh credentials and other marketing materials
  • Assist in the bank's strategic evaluation of new frontier geographies
  • Assist in initiatives designed to improve the Credit Suisse brand in EM
  • Prepare and participate in new business origination client meetings and selectively working on transaction execution
  • Manage and develop Analysts/Associates - coordinates Analyst work on projects, develops them through delegation of responsibility, and takes a prominent role in training initiatives for junior colleagues.

You Offer
Technical/business skills & knowledge:
  • Deep understanding and interest in Emerging Markets investment banking across all products
  • Fluent in at least one of the Emerging Markets languages, Russian preferred
  • Excellent modelling and valuation skill set
  • Rounded transactional experience (public/private, buy/sell side, bilateral/auction situations)
  • Able to produce technically excellent written materials - transaction documentation, credit committee/investment banking committee memos, client pitches
  • Able to use technical skills and knowledge to solve problems and give advice
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task across many tasks and projects and plan ahead
  • Able to present in a measured, clear, articulate way - in particular with regard to technical issues
  • Able to manage, train and coach juniors
