A key role in the Underwriting & portfolio management process within the Commercial Distribution Finance line of business, ensuring large value transactions (> $5MM) are appropriately diligences, documented and approved in adherence to risk appetite, policies and documented with appropriate governance together with in life performance appropriately monitored and escalated.

Commerical Distribution Finance (CDF) is an Inventory floorplan business operating globally, working with manufacturers of products in the Marine, Recreational Vehicle, Motor Sports, Outdoor Leisure, Agriculture and Industrial sectors. The business provides distribution finance to facilitate manufacturers to distribute their finished goods to their dealer distribution base, whilst at the same time providing financing solutions to the dealer base to hold the manufacturers inventory over an extended period that will facilitate an orderly sale to an end consumer.

A direct report of the Commercial Distribution Finance European Risk Leader, this is a key role in the Underwriting & portfolio management process within the CDF Line of Business ensuring large value transactions (> $5MM) are appropriately diligences, documented and approved in adherence to risk appetite, policies and documented with appropriate governance together with in life performance appropriately monitored and escalated. Core primary responsibilities are as follows:


•Diligence and preparation of Credit requests for large value transactions (>$5MM line size)
•Credit Approval of New Business Opportunities, Amendment Requests and Annual Reviews
•Portfolio Management of small portfolio of large value transactions within EMEA portfolio to ensure financial and operational performance robustly managed

Responsibilities
Diligence and preparation of Large Value Credit Requests (> $5MM)
•Working within the multi products / Pay as sold portfolio, dedicated role working on large value transactions across the full Western Europe portfolio to ensure full and adequate documentation of the diligence, assessment deal rationale and risk & mitigants of large transactions.
•Structure deals and document to required levels befitting the size and nature of the risk exposure, clear documentation of the assessment of the Company, transaction overview and key risks and mitigants supported by financial and collateral analysis.
•Ensure key risks are understood and documented, adherence and compliance to policies and appropriate analysis of financial and collateral data to support the transaction.
•Ensure transactions are underwritten and structured in accord with risk appetite, including aggregation risks of individual names, country risk exposure and counter party risk exposure.
•Ensure new credit/credit amendment transactions are submitted in a timely manner to allow adequate analysis and discussion, ensure appropriate visibility and monitoring of due dates of annual review.   Create and own pipeline to monitor and oversee activity on large value deal activity.

Credit Approval Activity 
•Role will (ultimately following initial induction period of up to 180 days) hold material LOB delegation of authority to support EMEA Risk Manager(s) - review, challenge and approve or obtain approval of transactions.
•Ensure key risks are understood and documented, adherence and compliance to policies and appropriate analysis of financial and collateral data to support the transaction.
•Ensure transactions are underwritten and structured in accord with risk appetite, including aggregation risks of individual names, country risk exposure and counter party risk exposure.
•Ensure new credit/credit amendment transactions are submitted in a timely manner to allow adequate analysis and discussion, ensure appropriate visibility and monitoring of due dates of annual review.   Create and own pipeline to monitor and oversee activity on large value deal activity.

Portfolio Management  
•Responsible for lead underwriter/annual review and in life portfolio risk management of a small portfolio of high value transactions (e.g. Sunseeker, Frydenbo, Caravansenter etc)
•Provide dedicated monthly review and oversight for small portfolio (up to 20 deals) to ensure timely receipt and monitoring of financials , reporting and other covenant or monitoring compliance
•Attendance at monthly portfolio committees and watch list committees for status updates
•Establishing enhanced systems and structure for monitoring of larger transactions across all European jurisdictions.
•Customer visits as required and where appropriate in conjunction with Commercial team.
•Working closely with Commercial for any change requests on large value transactions and early signposting.

 

Market Skills and Certifications
•Experienced Individual within a secured Asset Finance, financial services business, CDF experience preferred but not prerequisite.
•Track record of managing, reviewing and approving large value transactions in accordance with risk appetite and policies.  
•Ability to pitch large complex transactions to senior stakeholders cross LOB and wider Wells Fargo Organisation
•Strong analytical and presentation skills
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•Strong personality with ability to work both independently or through building strong partnerships, cross functionally specifically  working across - Commercial, Risk, Capital Markets and Operations - break down silos, create one team solution.
•Highly organised and evidences good project management skills.
•Ability to think clearly whilst under pressure, using strong negotiating and influencing skills in order to deliver responsibilities of the roles across teams with competing priorities.
•English language speaker.
