Product Control Associate – Investment Management
We are currently recruiting for a Product Control role for a large independent alternative investment manager based in London. You would be joining a growing team, assisting Asset Managers and highlighting potential operational and valuation issues. This position has been created by an internal move is an ideal role for a technical product controller looking to make their first move into the buy side.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the middle office oversight activities for credit funds. This is a wide ranging role covering the key aspects of the Middle Office fund NAV controls, from security pricing, trade controls, and portfolio valuations, to fund and share class performance validation, FX hedging effectiveness, fee controls, security financing cost oversight, and operating expense reviews.
• Oversight of the fund capital used by portfolio managers for their daily trading levels, ensuring that fund subscriptions and redemptions are accurately captured, determining daily performance estimates, periodic fund financial and other regulatory/tax reporting.
• Regularly work across multiple teams, supporting the launching of new funds and accounts, tailoring the structure of the product requirements to ensure that they are correctly set up and able to operate within our systems and control processes. This requires close collaboration with internal teams (such as the fund managers, product structuring, business management, legal, compliance, trading, operations, tax, and finance), as well as external parties (most notably the fund administrators and custodians, fund directors, and investors).
• Regular contribution to and leadership in project work, such as where we have technology changes or seek to make enhancements to existing systems and processes.
• Supporting a range of ad hoc requests from across the business and investors, such as providing Middle Office input and fund insights to respond to investor, portfolio manager, trading and business management queries, RFPs (requests for proposal), and investor due diligence questionnaires.
• Work across different teams offers a great level of potential to build personal profile and to develop and demonstrate skills and expertise from the outset.
• Oversight of the control framework, technology systems, accounting procedures; they will have a robust control mindset and the ability to identify risks and take action to mitigate them.
Must have these Key Requirements:
• Technical Product control background gained from a banking or buy side environment
• Strong mathematical academic background – minimum 2:1 degree is essential
• CFA or MSc Qualified - Preferred • ACA/ACCA Qualified (preferred but not essential)
• Strong knowledge of Credit Derivatives - Essential
• Advanced Excel Skills
• Proven process improvement mindset
