Research Analyst I - Games and apps

IHS Markit is seeking an analyst to join its team of market analysts covering the video games and apps market. As an Analyst, you will provide data, analysis and research support focusing on mobile apps and games markets across the world, as well as wider trends in the video games and media industry.
This position will focus on researching the fast-moving games and mobile apps business, analysing company strategies, technologies and content trends.

You will be working with a team of colleagues located across multiple locations in Asia, Europe and North America.

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the team in the creation of quantitative market size, market forecasts, and market analysis for the video games and app segments.
  • Write research notes, provide regular written analysis and reports for clients on the video games and mobile apps markets.
  • Interview industry participants to understand their strategies and gain market data.
  • Conduct desk research on mobile app and games companies.
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of games and app business models, technologies, strategies, and opportunities.
  • Work in an international environment and collaborate with other IHS analyst teams, including those specializing in: Media, Telecoms and Consumer Electronics.
  • Develop relationships with publishers, developers, platforms and technology providers.
  • Over time, as the analyst's experience and expertise grows, they will have the opportunity to present to clients, represent the company in the media to raise visibility for IHS Markit, travel internationally on business, and speak at industry conferences.

Required skills & characteristics:
  • Strong academic record with a minimum good bachelor's degree.
  • Strong quantitative skills - experience with data collection and modelling is desirable.
  • Proficiency with MS applications - Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • A keen attention to detail and highly effective organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers around the world across many time zones.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines on a tight schedule.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Natural curiosity, adaptability, strong motivation and self-drive.
Additional desirable skills and experience:
  • Interest or experience in the video games or media industry
