What are we looking for?

You will be responsible for the day to day accounting and financial management of the company, providing and interpreting financial information, monitoring cash flow, preparing monthly management accounts and building on the financial systems already in place.  There is scope to develop this role and the position is key to ensuring Ripjar’s continuing success.

Responsibilities

  • Produce periodic reports to management, the Board and investors on finances, company performance, control systems, related procedures, risks and opportunities Assist the CEO in preparing yearly budgeting and cash flow forecasts and subsequently perform ongoing monitoring to identify and address any deviations promptly
  • Oversight of the external company accountants
  • All operational tasks and bookkeeping related to producing monthly management accounts for the company including bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with company accountants in preparing draft year-end financial accounts prior to audit and overseeing the audit process including liaising with external auditors
  • Manage purchase and sales ledger to ensure efficient capital management
  • All company filing including HMRC returns, R&D tax credits, Companies House returns and VAT returns
  • Create processes, KPIs and reporting to ensure that the business has appropriate and adequate control of all financial, operational and risk management aspects including compliance
  • Work with the CEO and any specialist advisers to develop a funding and investment strategy, maximising growth and future valuation and ensuring that the company can secure its strategic corporate finance goals
  • Ongoing project work

Requirements

  • Ideal candidates will have a formal accountancy qualification (fully qualified) from a recognised accountancy body or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent Excel, MS office and accountancy software skills. Ripjar currently use FreeAgent.
  • Working with a structured and methodical approach to tasks and able to identify risks and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate
  • A proven track record of building and developing effective working relationships, excellent communication and good problem-solving skills
  • Experience of delivering concise and accurate reports to internal and external stakeholders to strict deadlines
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with employees and external contacts
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and with a sense of humour
  • Self-motivated and proactive in seeking out answers
  • Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail
  • Logical approach to problem-solving
