Senior Fund Accountant

The Opportunity:

Along with the Group Funds Accounting Team, the Senior Fund Accountant will be responsible for providing a high quality, cost effective service for Prudential Group clients covering aspects of Fund Accounting which includes:

  • Fund data monitoring
  • Delivery of accounting information
  • Liaising with other teams, auditors and clients
  • Identifying and mitigating risks. Developing business processes which make appropriate use of technology to mitigate errors and risks
  • Complying with the regulatory requirements associated with all activities

    You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Monthly static data review - verification of financial instruments classification and their attributes.
  • Preparation and review of accounting information, including:
  • Monthly IFRS trial balances and Solvency II reconciliation
  • Memo analysis used in the Prudential financial statements, including credit rating analysis, loan analysis, financial assets and liabilities fair value and designation, levelling analysis of financial assets and liabilities, etc.
  • Unit Trust and OEICs analysis
  • Intercompany balances analysis
  • Quarterly Interim Management Statements including exposure to banking and sovereign debt, defaulted securities, securitised assets
  • Quarterly and Annual ONS returns
  • Income Schedules
  • Respond to client, internal and external audit queries in a professional, timely and accurate manner
  • Provide assistance to other M&G departments to facilitate the resolution of complex issues
  • Ensure completion of SOx critical controls and associated documentation.
  • Maintain and contribute to the development of systems, processes, procedures and controls that mitigate errors, risks and ensure integrity of data
  • Work with the Technical Team to deliver changes, including testing prior to implementation.
  • Work with various teams across the Group on accounting standards interpretation and future requirements
  • Ability to work within a team environment and support Fund Accountants
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet crucial deadlines
  • Identify and fulfil regulatory requirements applicable to their role

What we are looking for:

You will be an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified Accountant, (or equivalent) and qualified in, or willing to study for an IMC. Sound knowledge of accounting (UK GAAP & IFRS), together with broad experience of the industry is a must for this role, as well as a good understanding of financial markets instruments and an awareness of current issues in the financial services environment. An awareness of Solvency II will also be beneficial.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and effective analytical and problem solving skills. Good communication, influencing, planning, organisational and client focus skills are equally as important, alongside commitment to delivering quality at all times. You will have a flexible approach to your work and will be capable of building good relationships both internally and externally. You will be capable of working under pressure whilst managing tight internal and client deadlines, as well as this you must be able to demonstrate initiative when managing your own workload.
