One of the UK’s leading challenger banks are looking for a commercial treasurer to join the finance function and help build out the treasury as the bank moves through the next phase of their growth. The bank will be transitioning from a sterling-based organisation to a multi-currency bank providing deposit and lending functionality to both retail and corporate customers.

Role Description

  • Ensure that the Bank is managing its balance sheet in line with its business strategy, risk appetite and policy established by the Board
  • Recommend the size, structure and component investments of the bank’s liquidity portfolio as well as managing the day to day operations
  • Manage the liquidity, interest rate and foreign exchange risk of the bank, proposing and implementing appropriate hedging strategies
  • Ensure a diversified funding base is available
  • Manage the other financial risks of the bank
  • Manage the Treasury team and its front to back operations including coaching and developing existing team members and finding new talent as required
  • Help manage the external relationships with all relevant regulators on treasury and prudential regulation matters
  • You will be authorised to bind the bank in contract negotiations (and renewals) for execution and custodial services with third party suppliers (e.g. Investment banks, brokers and market makers). As such you will need to pass through a robust SMF assessment

Role Requirements:

  • Able to create and manage a team that can support the bank in its day to day operations
  • Able to provide insight and advice on strategic issues on balance sheet management and the impact upon cost and value of funds provided to the other Banking departments
  • Self-starter with experience building or growing a function in the past would be advantageous
  • Expertise in the following technical areas is essential: Interest rates and market access; Position taking and settlement; Cash and liquidity management; Capital markets and funding; Corporate financial management; Interest rate and FX risk management; Treasury operations and controls
