Valuation Control Oversight AVP - Hedge Fund

We are currently recruiting for a Valuation Control oversight role for a large hedge fund based in London. You would be joining a growing team which is responsible for setting up new valuation control processes for the organisation. This position has been created by an expansion of the desk is an ideal role for a product controller looking to make their first move into the buy side.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analysis of executed trades across a wide variety of asset classes as part of the Valuation Control Oversight function
  • Liaise with Fund Managers and Traders in order to understand their trading behaviour and factors that have influenced their executed trades
  • Analysis of large data sets to understand execution patterns, trends and behaviour in order to present to Management as part of the Valuation Control Oversight Committee;
  • Develop relationships with Fund Managers, Risk Managers, Execution Traders, Senior Management (e.g. COO) and other key stakeholders
  • Using both Internal/External data, review and analyse fund Profit and Loss accounts across asset classes to report performance data to Fund Managers, Senior Management and Clients
  • Apply technical understanding to securities pricing across the business
  • Review Foreign Exchange exposures and report to the Asset Managers, highlighting any currency hedging requirements
  • Liaise with the Fund Administrators to reconcile official fund NAVs; provision of ad-hoc reports to the Asset Managers and senior management regarding performance and historic trading analysis
  • Attend committee meetings with Fund Boards/Administrators to explain pricing exceptions, provide updates on positions and any other developments as part of the pricing committee
  • Ensure the quality and effectiveness of the pricing governance and controls is maintained through the identification and mitigation of pricing risks

Requirements:

  • Product Control or Valuation Control/IPV Experience gained from a large bank or Investment Manager
  • Strong mathematical academic background – minimum 2:1 degree is essential and MSc or CFA Qualified
  • Qualified Accountant (Ideally)
  • Extensive knowledge of Pricing Derivatives – Fixed Income is preferred but all asset classes will be considered
  • Strong control mind set
  • Proven evidence of pro-actively identifying and improving processes in your current role
