Application Support Engineer - Permanent

Newcastle UK

Opportunity for a personable Application Support Engineer to join a leading Asset Management firm.

The role involves 2nd level support for mission critical applications, SaaS solutions as well as a range of vendor and bespoke financial applications running in Windows Server environment with MS SQL Databases, across the data centre and Azure.

The role offers front, middle and back office exposure, as well as excellent training, career development and internal mobility options!

Experience

  • SQL Server / MS SQL
  • Unix
  • Azure
  • Windows Server (navigating, diagnostics, restarts, familiar with how services run)
  • Knowledgeable in service management, support processes, incident/problem/change management, ITIL etc

Financial Services experience is advantageous...

  • Familiar with financial terminology (can define and explain the difference between financial instruments)
  • Strong knowledge in one of the following...
    • Wealth management (strong understanding across the investment/asset management business, e.g. working with client portfolios through to back office settlements)
    • Trading/OMS/FIX (trade messaging, order flow, FIX messaging, diagnosis, what messages look like, how they decode then, how they are sent out/come back, looking at where orders have gone wrong, interacting with traders/investment managers)

  • A quick learner, with an genuine interest in both development and support
  • Able to communicate clearly and confidently with users.
  • Results focused and driven to deliver quality solutions
  • Keen to get 'stuck in' with a can-do attitude... happy to roll up their sleeves to tackle new and unfamiliar problems large or small
