We are looking for Senior Oracle E-Business Database Administrator with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) skills to join our BPDTS Ltd team. Here at BPDTS Ltd we're working with DWP Digital to reshape the digital landscape of UK government.

You will be involved in 2 key projects Central Payments Service (CPS) and Provider Referrals and Payments (PRaP) along with additional projects involving cloud service, automation and cloud based hosting. These services support one of the largest payments platforms in the UK, ensuring that millions of people get the access to the support and finances they need, when they need it.

The scale of our enterprise is enormous, and we manage an estate of over 800 databases. We support business critical databases, test environments, production, pre-production, disaster recovery, performing relational database management, even branching out into DevOps Cloud.

You're a pragmatic operator who'll love the stretch and scope of this role.

You'll have the opportunity to influence the design and build of environments, from proof of concept, to tuning, patching, and maintenance of databases.

You'll implement backup and recovery strategies, investigate and analyse incidents and ensure high availability and performance of production systems. You'll perform seamless repeatable cloning of production environments through shell scripting and mask data to facilitate progression of critical developments.

You'll be a hands-on lead for data migration projects and database server migrations and stage data, extract, transform and load (ETL) into pre-determined structures in Oracle.

You'll also mentor and supervise a high performing Oracle DBA team to improve team performance and standards, and implement trail-blazing process automation initiatives to optimise workflow and remove bottlenecks.

You'll join a network of Database Administrators who share, develop and build our bespoke knowledge management systems. There'll be lots of training and development opportunities, and chances to segue into other parts of our agile ecosystem (e.g Devops and SRE roles).

What skills and experience are we looking for?

You are a senior level Oracle DBA with proven Oracle E- Business Suite (EBS) experience. Ideally you have experience of AWS Solutions Architecture with a proven track record of delivering quality, sustainable, repeatable solutions on large IT projects

You have recent experience with Oracle Application server live monitoring, updating and process improvement. And you'll have previous experience of upgrades including implementation of E-Business Suite solutions and EBS patching (EBS 12.1, 12.2. or 12.2.9) and Oracle Database (12.1 -12c).

Essential skills and technical experience

  • Strong knowledge of managing large RDMBS systems
  • Oracle E-Business Suite in both a core / application DBA capacity
  • A good working knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Linux operating systems running on Oracle 12c
  • Patching and upgrading Oracle E-Business.
  • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database.
  • Ability to work proactively in a disciplined environment to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of working in an IT Live Support environment, using ITIL processes
  • This role requires a mandatory minimum security check at BPSS level and you must be eligible for Security Clearance.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in building virtual multi-tenant databases within on a Linux virtual platform to include database upgrade and regular patching and maintenance.
  • Oracle Database 11g / 12c working knowledge
  • A good knowledge of Oracle GRID Infrastructure plus Oracle Enterprise Manager(OEM).

You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in your choice of Blackpool, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

The team provides 24x7 on-call cover on a rota basis and the successful candidate would be expected to join the rota after an initial training period. Overtime and on-call allowance is paid.
