Canada Life are currently recruiting for an IFS Fund Set Up expert to join us on a 9 month fixed term contract.

We now need an Industrial & Financial Systems (IFS) Fund Set Up expert to support the transformation and the future growth of the business within the Finance function, so it can be a trusted and commercial partner that influences the business to make good financial decisions, by delivering excellent support, expertise and high quality Management Information.


Job Summary

An investment operations subject matter expert with significant understanding of investment dealing, settlement and data management processes such that they are able to work on their own initiative to contact fund houses to obtain OEIC fund documentation and are able to analyse / review this documentation with very limited guidance to ensure that operationally the assets can be supported by IFS systems and processes.

You will be able to lead all work necessary (complete application forms and ensure documentation complete) to operationally link to new funds and to establish appropriate records (data set up) in investment systems, including to test funds to ensure operational efficacy and to suggest improvements to the model / process where beneficial.

The individual will possess significant investment operations and fund administration expertise and be able to project manage the setup of multiple funds in parallel. 


What you’ll do

Support project activity:
•Contacting fund houses to collate documentation and fund data.
•Completing application forms to opening Transfer Agency dealing accounts for linked fund investment houses to enable dealing in underlying investments.
•Assisting Proposition and Legal teams in securing either new fund link agreements with fund houses or updated addendums where existing agreements.
•Reviewing fund terms to ensure that administratively they can be supported.
•Managing the upload and testing of fund data to investment systems to ensure successful addition of new fund links.
•Tracking and managing the update across the entire set up life cycle and providing appropriate management information and related project reporting.
•Updating process notes to reflect operational changes

Produce appropriate management information to report project progress and to drive improved performance and meaningful management decisions.
Support effective risk management, maintaining a strong risk culture and operating in line with Canada Life’s risk strategy, preferences, policies and processes.
Ensure external operational relationships are appropriately managed and maintained and build collaborative working relationships.
Provide technical expertise and oversee the supervision and development of processes and training of relevant staff.

Ensure change is managed effectively in the area including strategic, regulatory and operational change through appropriate change control processes.  


 Who you are

•Experience of supervising bank account and asset (OEICS, equities, insured funds) reconciliations for an investment services company in compliance with CASS requirements.
•Strong understanding of CASS requirements, able to train a team in these requirements and to effectively supervise reconciliation activities.
•Ability to equally work autonomously and in partnership with IFS teams to consistently meet operational and regulatory requirements in compliance with all group policies and controls.
•Staff Supervision Skills – The role will involve supervising a small team so effective analytical, organisational and decision making skills are required
•Experience in investment operational roles with a proven understanding of OEIC set up and application review, completion and trading.
•Previously held an investment operations management role with responsibility for investment dealing, settlement, corporate actions, pricing or data management and in this role to have direct fund set up and related agreement and operational fund trading experience
