The Role: 

The Senior Accounting Manager will work within one of the Accounting Production team in the area of Retirement Income. This role requires a qualified accountant with 3 years+ PQE who has practical experience across a range of Finance specialisms and a detailed understanding of IFRS, Solvency II and ECAP reporting metrics. They will lead a team of technical experts to deliver an end-to end process and will be ultimately accountable for the performance of the team, in terms of time, cost and quality, and including its responsiveness to future business requirements

This is a 15 month secondment/fixed term contract opportunity which will initially be home based and can be based in either Edinburgh or Reading thereafter.

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Lead a team of Finance professionals, including technical experts, in the delivery of financial accounts and associated financial information with supporting analysis and commentary
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality results, meeting customer needs, within a robust control framework including clear audit trail
  • Hold ultimate accountability for the accuracy of the output of the team, balancing resource time and cost to optimise the quality of the output
  • Lead and provide expert advice and guidance on the application of accounting principles and tools to support business objectives
  • Develop a team which is responsive to future business requirements
  • Deliver against and act as a subject matter expert in Finance change projects where required

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified accountant with proven post qualification experience, preferably with exposure to life and pensions
  • Awareness of external developments and experience of identifying, recommending and implementing improvements to processes and policies in line with these
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, and ability to adapt quickly to changes and ensure these are implemented
  • Knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks In depth knowledge of financial accounting requirements for IFRS, Solvency II and Ecap reporting
  • A detailed understanding of financial statements and the key data included in P&L, Capital, Shareholder and Balance Sheet activities
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
