Harvey Nash are working with a leading and pioneering digital financial services provider in the North East, who are looking fro a Senior Manager to lead their Engineering and Development function.

This role will ultimately be accountable for the standards and practices in software engineering, giving the engineering teams a vision, road-map and ultimately a voice in the organisation to be as productive and successful as possible.

Included in the remit of the role will be to:

  • Recruit and retain the best engineering talent
  • Continually grow and develop engineers
  • Ensure the client have the right skills to deliver against the business goals
  • Set example of continuous improvement and self-development
  • Strive to bring the customer needs closer to the engineering community as they work with stakeholders
  • Develop software with the end user in mind
  • Work with architecture and technical leadership on ensuring technical roadmaps are defined and understood across the business function.
  • Ensure all engineers have appropriate coaching and mentorship pushing technical excellence and software craftsmanship
  • Ensure all engineers have clear progression paths
  • Ensure software is developed which is commercial suitable and sustainable

You will also be leading the engineering road-map and setting the strategic direction in the short and long term that the teams need to take to achieve the organisational goals.

The key skills and experience required for this role are:

  • Stakeholder engagement and management
  • Come from a development background (this is a hands off role, and understanding of software development is critical)
  • Experience of managing large and complex teams
  • Able to develop and grow the teams as required
  • A truly collaborative approach to your role
  • An established / experienced technical leader in modern software development practices
