About your new role



Our market leading Employment, Pensions and Immigration team advises employers across the UK on all aspects of employment, pensions and immigration law. Our clients are some of the UK's largest and best known employers. The candidate will be based at either our Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Newcastle, Birmingham or London offices but working as part of our national Employment, Pensions and Immigration team and subject to our hybrid working policy. Our teams are highly ranked in the Legal Directories and have ambitions to grow further.



As a lawyer in our Employment, Pensions and Immigration team, this is a great opportunity to play an integral role in growing our business, working alongside Partners to drive the practice forward. You will manage a mixed caseload of employment work, working on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters and will be responsible for:

• Advising clients on the full range of employment law issues, including redundancy, disciplinary matters, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination and detriment claims;


• Defending Employment Tribunal claims including drafting defences, bundles, witness statements and merits reports;


• Assisting other members of the team with their caseloads as appropriate;


• Drafting articles and legal updates;


• Assisting with business development initiatives including training and networking;


• Working in accordance with client and internal SLAs;


• Working in accordance with Weightmans' values and procedures;


• Contributing to set team financial and utilisation targets.

About You



You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.



We also require you to have/be:

• 3-6 YR Qualified Solicitor (but all experienced quality candidates will be considered);


• Strong technical knowledge;


• Previous experience of managing your own caseload, although not essential;


• Attention to detail;


• Ability to multi-task, work to strict deadlines and targets;


• Excellent team work skills;


• Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills;


• Flexible approach;


• Strong academics and technical knowledge.
