At Brandon, finance is about far more than producing accurate numbers. It's about providing meaningful insight that helps us make informed decisions, improve services and maximise our impact for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

As our Management Accountant, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality financial information, supporting operational decision-making and ensuring strong financial control across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with collaboration, continuous improvement and problem-solving.

Why you might love this role

  • You'll be at the heart of decision-making
You'll provide accurate management information, analyse performance and help managers understand the financial story behind the numbers.

  • You'll develop valuable business partnering skills
Working with colleagues across the organisation, you'll build strong relationships and support non-finance managers to make informed decisions.

  • You'll drive continuous improvement
You'll identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and systems, helping finance operate more efficiently and effectively.

  • You'll gain broad finance experience
From month-end accounting and fixed assets to audit support and financial analysis, you'll develop expertise across a wide range of finance activities.

  • You'll work with data and digital tools
You'll help use technology, automation and analytics to improve reporting and provide deeper organisational insight.

  • You'll do work that genuinely matters
Everything we do is about enabling people to live the lives they choose. Your work will help ensure Brandon can continue delivering life-changing support.

What you'll deliver

  • Accurate and timely management accounts
Produce monthly management accounts, journals, reconciliations and financial reports that support effective decision-making.

  • Meaningful financial insight
Provide variance analysis, commentary and performance reporting that helps budget holders understand opportunities, risks and trends.

  • Strong financial control and compliance
Support robust financial controls, regulatory reporting requirements and adherence to accounting standards and policies.

  • Effective audit support
Contribute to year-end activities and work collaboratively with auditors to ensure smooth and successful audit processes.

  • Improved systems and processes
Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting and improve the effectiveness of finance systems.

  • Data-driven decision making
Use financial and operational data to provide insight, support planning and contribute to organisational performance.

  • Collaborative stakeholder support
Build effective relationships with colleagues across the organisation, providing trusted financial guidance and support.

  • Continuous improvement and innovation
Support ongoing finance transformation, embracing technology and helping develop more efficient ways of working.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a finance professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.

You'll enjoy working with data, solving problems and helping others understand financial information. You'll be comfortable managing competing priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

You'll bring:

  • AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent, with further professional studies welcomed.

  • Experience preparing management accounts, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Strong understanding of management accounting principles and financial controls.

  • Experience producing financial reports, analysis and performance commentary.

  • Excellent Excel and financial systems skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.

  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting processes.

  • A proactive approach to improving processes, systems and reporting.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • A collaborative and values-led approach aligned with Brandon's purpose.
