Associate - Business Valuation
A leading global advisory firm is seeking an Associate to join its growing Business Valuation practice. The team operates in a hybrid environment, with employees expected to be in the office two days per week.
Role Overview
The Associate will play a key role in executing valuation engagements for a variety of purposes, including financial reporting, tax planning, transaction support, strategic planning, litigation support, and fairness opinions. Associates work closely with senior team members and clients, gaining exposure to a broad range of industries and complex valuation assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed financial analysis and evaluate historical and projected business performance.
- Build and review valuation models utilizing methodologies such as discounted cash flow (DCF), guideline public company, precedent transaction, and other accepted valuation approaches.
- Analyze management forecasts, financial statements, budgets, and operational data.
- Conduct industry, market, economic, and company-specific research to support valuation conclusions.
- Identify and analyze comparable public companies and relevant market transactions using financial databases and research tools.
- Prepare valuation reports, client presentations, and supporting analyses.
- Assist in responding to client, auditor, and other third-party inquiries related to valuation methodologies and conclusions.
- Participate in management interviews, client meetings, and due diligence discussions.
- Support engagement management, including workflow coordination, project tracking, and communication with internal teams and clients.
- Assist with business development initiatives, proposal preparation, and pitch materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field with a strong academic record.
- Approximately 2-5 years of experience in business valuation, valuation advisory, investment banking, transaction advisory, corporate finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of business valuation methodologies, including discounted cash flow analysis, guideline public company analysis, and precedent transaction analysis.
- Advanced financial modeling and Excel skills; proficiency in PowerPoint and Word required.
- Experience preparing valuation reports and client-facing deliverables preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, writing, organizational, and project management skills.
- Progress toward or interest in professional designations such as CFA, CPA, ASA, or ABV is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
