About the role:
This role would suit someone looking to deepen their experience within Private Equity finance and broaden their exposure to the sector. It offers a strong opportunity to build technical capability, gain meaningful insight into how PE houses operate, and develop the judgement and relationships required to act as a trusted advisor to the private equity community. Over time, it will also help build strong fund finance relationships across a number of PE houses.
As a Manager in FFS, you will take ownership of the delivery, quality, and profitability of a portfolio of client engagements, ensuring the team delivers a premium partnering service.
You will lead the delivery of managed finance function services across a portfolio of clients, with responsibility for accounting operations, management reporting, and driving improvements in finance processes.
In addition to your client-facing work, you will support the development of the team through coaching and performance management, and build strong internal relationships across service lines to champion our solution.
You will also serve as a key technical resource, providing guidance on complex accounting matters, responding to client queries, and ensuring compliance with relevant reporting standards.

You will also serve as a key technical resource, providing guidance on complex accounting matters, responding to client queries, and ensuring compliance with relevant reporting standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of a portfolio of private equity clients, overseeing the delivery of outsourced accounting services and ensuring all client deliverables are completed to a high standard, are technically accurate, and meet agreed deadlines.
- Overseeing client communications, supporting the development of trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and acting as the first point of escalation for service, technical and delivery matters where required.
- Leading on the planning, execution, and review of client deliverables, including overseeing accounting operations, periodic management accounts and VAT returns.
- Reviewing finance function processes and identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency, quality, and effectiveness of the reporting and close cycle through enhanced controls, technology, and process improvements.
- Taking responsibility for profitability, resource planning, WIP and billing management, and monitoring overall engagement performance.
- Managing, mentoring, and developing a team of Assistant Managers, Supervisors, and Assistants through work review, coaching and regular feedback.
- Developing deep Private Equity sector expertise to better understand client needs, provide commercially relevant advice, build strong industry relationships, and contribute to the firm's profile within the market.
- Providing accounting and technical support on complex matters, such as accounting treatment, journal adjustment, consolidated reporting for group structures, and acquisition accounting.
- Identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships, supporting fee negotiations, and contributing to proposals and business development initiatives.
- Working with the Manager team to deliver on strategic objectives, drive team development, and support the continued growth of the AFR practice.
- Leading on one or more key aspects of team management, such as service delivery, technology, training, resource planning, and operational effectiveness .

Qualifications, skills & experience
- ACA / ACCA qualified, with at least two years post-qualification experience in professional practice.
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients, ideally within a finance function support, outsourcing, or management accounting environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, with experience reviewing management reports.
- Experience preparing or reviewing management accounts under FRS102 or IFRS, with the ability to identify technical accounting issues, and provide clear technical guidance to junior team members on the application of accounting standards.
- Proven ability to oversee multiple engagements simultaneously, ensuring deadlines, quality, and profitability targets are met.
- Strong commercial awareness with proven experience in delivering sound financial management for client engagements.
- Experience leading and coaching teams, reviewing work, and supporting development of junior colleagues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting to clients and managing key relationships.
- Strong understanding of VAT, reconciliations, and core accounting processes.
- Proficient in MS Excel and accounting systems, with an aptitude for learning and implementing new technologies.
- Demonstrated industry experience and/or a strong interest in specialising in Private Equity with a commitment to contributing to the ongoing growth of our Finance Function Support offering within these sectors.
