The OpportunityThis is an excellent opportunity for a strong Python developer who wants to apply their technical skills within the asset management industry.
Previous experience in finance, hedge funds, or investment operations is not required . The firm is looking for someone with excellent Python skills, strong problem-solving ability, and a genuine interest in learning how an investment business operates.
The successful candidate will use Python to improve workflows, automate operational processes, analyse data, and build tools that support both trading and the day-to-day running of the fund. Over time, they will gain broad exposure to trading, investment analytics, and fund operations while working closely with experienced professionals.
Given the size of the team, this is a hands-on role where technology is applied across multiple areas of the business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact from day one while developing a deep understanding of how a commodities hedge fund operates.
Key Responsibilities Python Development & Automation- Develop and maintain Python applications, scripts, and internal tools.
- Automate manual processes across trading support and fund operations.
- Build and improve data pipelines and reporting workflows.
- Develop analytics to support trading, risk, and business decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology.
The role also includes responsibility for supporting the day-to-day operations of the fund, including:
- Running and monitoring key operational processes.
- Daily reconciliations and investigation of trade breaks.
- Supporting investor reporting.
- Liaising with brokers, counterparties, fund administrators, and other service providers.
- Responding to operational queries and helping resolve issues efficiently.
- Continuously identifying opportunities to automate and improve operational workflows.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Good understanding of data manipulation and automation.
- Basic SQL knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn.
- Up to two years' professional Python development experience, or equivalent technical ability demonstrated through academic or personal projects.
- Experience building data pipelines or analytical tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
- An interest in financial markets, commodities, or quantitative analysis.
No previous experience in asset management, hedge funds, or investment operations is required.
