What you'll do:



As a ServiceNow Engineer within the Enterprise Architecture Governance team in Jersey City, you will be instrumental in developing robust solutions that underpin critical governance activities across the organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve designing tailored ServiceNow applications for managing complex portfolios of business applications-from onboarding new systems to tracking their entire lifecycle. You will configure sophisticated data models that ensure information accuracy while automating key workflows for greater efficiency. By building integrations with other platforms via REST APIs or IntegrationHub connectors, you will help create a seamless flow of information between departments. Your expertise in scripting will allow you to automate routine tasks while your dashboard-building skills will empower stakeholders with real-time analytics. In addition to technical delivery work, you'll engage regularly with colleagues from architecture, risk management, operations, and product teams-ensuring all governance processes are aligned with regulatory standards. You'll also have the opportunity to harness AI-powered tools like Microsoft Copilot for intelligent analysis of large datasets-enabling smarter decisions at every stage of the application lifecycle. Through your commitment to documentation excellence and stakeholder engagement you'll help foster an environment of transparency and continuous improvement.

• Design, build, and maintain ServiceNow Application Portfolio Management (APM) solutions including application onboarding, lifecycle management, and compliance tracking to support enterprise-wide governance objectives.


• Configure and extend data models such as APM, Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Common Service Data Model (CSDM), as well as workflows, forms, and governance pipelines to ensure accurate data capture and process alignment.


• Develop scripts using Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, and automate tasks through Flow Designer to optimise platform functionality and user experience.


• Build integrations with external systems using REST APIs and IntegrationHub to enable seamless data exchange and process automation across platforms.


• Create dashboards and performance analytics that provide visibility into application portfolios, track lifecycles, monitor compliance status, and generate actionable risk insights for stakeholders.


• Support governance processes by enabling onboarding workflows, Architecture Review Board (ARB) reviews, stage-gated approvals, and maintaining up-to-date application inventory data.


• Contribute to initiatives such as application rationalisation projects, lifecycle tracking efforts, standards compliance activities, and audit preparation in partnership with cross-functional teams.


• Identify automation opportunities using ServiceNow tools as well as Power Platform technologies to drive process efficiencies throughout the governance ecosystem.


• Leverage Microsoft Copilot and ServiceNow AI capabilities to generate insights from structured data sets, summarise findings for decision-makers, and recommend workflow improvements.


• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications or user stories, maintain documentation artefacts, support governance meetings, and champion ongoing process enhancements.

What you bring:



To excel as a ServiceNow Engineer in this role you will bring substantial experience architecting end-to-end solutions within complex enterprise settings-particularly where technology governance is paramount. Your background should include deep technical knowledge of configuring advanced modules within ServiceNow's Application Portfolio Management suite alongside practical skills in scripting automations that reduce manual effort. You'll be adept at translating business requirements into scalable technical designs while maintaining rigorous documentation standards suitable for regulated environments. Your interpersonal abilities will shine through regular collaboration with multidisciplinary teams-ensuring everyone remains aligned on project goals while fostering an inclusive atmosphere built on trust and mutual respect. Experience working with AI-driven tools like Microsoft Copilot will set you apart when it comes to generating actionable insights from large datasets. Additionally your familiarity with industry-standard frameworks such as TOGAF or ITIL will further reinforce your capacity to support best-in-class governance practices.

• A minimum of 4-6 years' hands-on experience delivering end-to-end ServiceNow solutions within enterprise environments focused on Application Portfolio Management or technology governance.


• Proven ability to design complex ServiceNow configurations including APM modules, CMDB structures, CSDM extensions as well as custom workflows tailored for regulated industries.


• Advanced scripting skills in JavaScript; familiarity with SQL or similar scripting languages is considered beneficial for broader automation initiatives.


• Demonstrated proficiency in creating dashboards using ServiceNow Performance Analytics or equivalent reporting tools for monitoring application health metrics or compliance status.


• Solid understanding of platform governance principles including Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) best practices relevant to highly regulated sectors such as financial services.


• Experience collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams-architecture groups, development squads, risk managers or operations staff-to deliver shared outcomes.


• Track record of identifying automation opportunities using Flow Designer or Power Platform tools; experience leveraging AI features such as Microsoft Copilot is highly desirable.


• Strong documentation skills encompassing technical specifications writing as well as maintenance of reporting artefacts or data definitions required for audit purposes.


• Preferred: Possession of current ServiceNow certifications (Certified System Administrator or Certified Application Developer) demonstrating formal expertise in platform engineering.


• Preferred: Familiarity with frameworks such as TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), or CSDM (Common Service Data Model).

Education:

The typical base pay range for this role is as follows:

• New York / New Jersey: $125k - $160k


• Non/ New York/Jersey City - $111k- $138k

depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
