Intern, DevOps Engineer




Role description summary



A DevOps Engineer bridges software development and IT operations, focusing on automating infrastructure, streamlining CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability. They deploy updates, manage cloud services (AWS, Azure), and use tools like Kubernetes and Terraform to automate workflows, requiring strong scripting (Python/Ruby) and troubleshooting skills.




Key Responsibilities

• CI/CD Pipelines: Build and maintain automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to accelerate delivery.


• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provision and manage infrastructure using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.


• Automation: Automate repetitive operational tasks to reduce errors and improve speed.


• Monitoring & Logging: Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) to ensure uptime.


• Containerization: Use Docker and Kubernetes to manage application containerization and orchestration.


• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, QA, and IT teams to streamline the development lifecycle.


• Security: Integrate security best practices (DevSecOps) into the pipeline.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience as a DevOps Engineer, Systems Administrator, or Software Engineer.


• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Linux, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and Git.


• Scripting/Programming: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash.


• Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.


• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

Common Tools

• CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions.


• IaC/Config Management: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef.


• Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes.


• Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog.
