Department Description
The Investment Accounting team is a diverse team of 46 colleagues, of which 40% is female and 60% is male and with more than 10 different nationalities. The Investment Accounting team is responsible for the accounting and administration of all AlpInvest investment - related activities as well as the preparing reports from this information. The Investments Accounting team consists of two sub teams: Operations and Support & Control ("S&C"). The Operations Team is focused on servicing Investors and Deal Teams. The S&C Team is focused on servicing Operations and other Support teams.
Tasks and responsibilities of the Investment Accounting team are:
• Preparing and validating entries for investment related transactions, valuations and other investment-related information which is uploaded into the portfolio accounting system and used for reporting and monitoring investments.
• Controlling the integrity of all information in the accounting system through ongoing review, monthly checks and targeted projects including the accurate application of the valuation policies in the quarterly valuations prepared by the investment teams for direct investments.
* Developing, preparing and analyzing monthly and annual financial reports for investors and management.
* Providing support to the investment teams located in the different offices during the deal closing process, and afterwards during the various stages of the investment process, by providing them with financial and other deal related information and analysis, both on a regular as well as an ad-hoc basis.
* Developing and updating policies and procedures to continuously improve investment accounting and business processes throughout the organization.
* Assisting external auditors in relation to financial and control audits.
Position Summary
The Tax Reporting Manager will be responsible for management and control of (accounting) processes and procedures with a specific focus on investor reporting and operates within the Support & Control ("S&C") Sub-Unit.
The professional will gain an in-depth understanding of the private equity business, working procedures and client portfolio accounting system and will work in an international, challenging and highly professional environment where cooperation, productivity and flexibility are valued.
The Tax Reporting Manager will report to the VP, head of the S&C Reporting unit and will take responsibility for managing a senior reporting specialist.The Tax Reporting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and completeness of tax-related data and IFRS/US GAAP tax reporting prepared by Investment Accounting, reviewing applied tax treatments, ensuring high-quality delivery of tax data to external advisors, and reviewing financial reports provided to clients
Key responsibilities include, among others:
Coordination of reporting activities (10%)
• Prepare tax reporting outputs and templates, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate tax information requirements across AlpInvest and with external advisors, ensuring all stakeholders understand deliverables, timelines, and expectations.
• Act as the primary contact for external advisors regarding tax data submissions, resolving issues and addressing new developments.
• Ensure that tax reporting controls and review processes are effective and efficient, delivering high-quality output.
• Optimize resource allocation and drive efficiencies across tax reporting processes.
Accounting and Reporting (60%)
* Identify and satisfy tax reporting needs of external and internal clients.
* Determine / assess tax treatments applied under IFRS and US GAAP for complex transactions, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations and consulting with the Tax team where appropriate
* Prepare/update tax position memos and documentation of tax treatments and assumptions.
* Develop and maintain robust data flows for tax reporting, ensuring integrity, consistency, and auditability of data.
• Review complex legal entity and fund structures and ensure these are accurately reflected and maintained within systems, translating them into appropriate system setups and reporting outputs, and ensuring consistency between legal documentation, accounting records, and reporting.
• Write/update notes and disclosures for financial statements based on (new) GAAP rules which require thorough understanding and up to date knowledge of the GAAP rules and changes.
• Prepare / analyze / review financial reports to ensure completeness and integrity of information, showing thorough understanding of the use of information by the end user.

* Bachelor / master's degree in Tax, Accounting, Business Economics, Business Administration
* Relevant professional qualification (RA, CA, CPA, CTA); tax qualification is considered a strong plus
* Demonstrable knowledge of and expertise in the areas of tax and audit and accounting/control preferably in financial services environment.
* Fundamental Accounting knowledge and high level of Financial Statement / GAAP knowledge.

• Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in the field of accounting/control of which 2 years at the supervisory level.
